Considering we have the means to completely adapt both the television series and several Expanded Universe material (thanks no less to the official sourcebooks and the work of the EU team.) I am curious to know has anyone ever just straight up adapted an episode of the Classic/Revived series or any Big Finish/EU material and ran a group through it in a session? Either as the Doctor and co or a completely new set of players? Did it work well as a session? I myself have often wondered how to go about doing such a thing as I always think outside knowledge of the story in question would come into play whether or not it was accidental or completely intentional.

That is a toughie. I often wonder about how to handle that myself. Usually, I just either come up with my own ideas or base it off of a fan made story or an EU Story if I need to. The closest I think I've ever gotten to doing what you're suggesting is with 'Dawn of the Kanyas' while it primarily came from a scenario seed in the Fourth Doctor Sourcebook that saw Morbius' brain placed in a Cyber-Leader body and begin to take over the Cybermen, a lot of the meat of the story drew inspiration from the Titan Comic events of Four Doctors and Supremacy of the Cybermen. However, it was combined and switched around a little to allow the Third Kanya to meet her predecessors and for her then-present companion Cam to meet Kanya's first two companions and see the interactions between them. One story I'd love to run in the future is one based on The Doctor's Wife. My friend who plays Kanya is a huge fan of that episode and it always makes her cry every single time. I just need to find a way of switching up the story (probably a different entity with a different motivation for getting rid of the TARDIS Matrix) so my player doesn't suspect what's going on.

I think it's worth a try. Never considered it before but I'm pretty sure no one I play with knows enough about any classic series stories to figure out what I'd be doing.

I've adapted a couple, though usually with plot changes and different Doctor and/or companions. Resurrection of the Daleks with Sixie and Ace for example.
