I've been watching "Be Cool Scooby Doo" and there are several episodes that would make decent Dr Who plots especially Scooby Doo in Space. So I figured I'd post a recap of that here and then how I think it could work.
EPISODE
We open on a mining station in space where 3 crew members (Hutch a young blond man, Garret a young brunette man and Wendell an older white haired man) are scanning the area of a new iron and nickel mining site. Wendell calls the other two's attention to an odd rock before the ground gives way and he falls into it face first. He then rejects the others attempts to get him to return to the station for decontamination in favour of trying to get them to also touch the rock. When they refuse he transforms into a red skull like creature and attacks them.
We then switch to the scooby van who have managed to accidentally park their van on a space shuttle crewed by two VERY relaxed and friendly people (Captain Lewis a black man and Lieutenant Vikingbaum a young brunette with a lighter streak in his hair) who shrug it of as something that could happen to anyone BEFORE launching and heading to the mining station where they arrive 10 hours ahead of schedule. Once on board they find the station apparently deserted and badly damaged with only emergency lighting, artificial gravity and the ore processing sub-level working a nearby door has the words "Beware Trust No One" in red lettering on it.
They split up with Vikingbaum, Shaggy and Scooby heading to the cafeteria to inventory food stocks and the others heading down to look at the ore processing level where they find whatever is being processed is a lot heavier than iron or nickel before heading up to the command deck to try and restore power. At this point Vikingbaum is dragged into an air vent and then he attempts to convince the other two its safe to remove their helmets when they refuse he turns into a red skulled creature and attacks them however a fault in the power reset disables the artifical gravity allowing them to escape before its fixed and gotten working properly.
On the command deck they play back the last holographic log indicating the crew found something on Asteroid 5512-J before the log cuts out due to sabotage leading them to speculate someone didn't want to be tracked as it normally tracks all the life signs on the station. At this point Scooby and Shaggy arrive followed soon after by Vikingbaum who protests that he didn't attack them but was rather attacked and dragged into a vent. Captain Lewis sends him to investigate the rest of the ship before being dragged into a vent himself by a red skulled creature who then pursues the scooby gang and then focuses on Shaggy and Scooby as they split up.
Shaggy and Scooby go through an experimental lab into an experimental wormhole resulting in some time travelling where they leave the warning to trust no one before arriving in a crew quarter where Fred is investigating. Vikingbaum shows up and they accuse him of being the monster while Fred tries to calm them down then a sneeze draws their attention to a nearby pillow fort where a crazed and now bearded Garret explains Wendell attacked him and Hatch, got onto the station before threatening to soap them as all he can trust now is the soap.
Daphne then arrives and tells them Velma found something in the medical bay. They then head there where she shows them medical officer soung's log (pronounced Sung an asian man with glasses) explaining 3 members of the 3 crew Hutch, Wendell and Ortiz were infected by an alien parasite that can lie dormant before triggering a transformation and infecting other humans in a potential epidemic situation however examination of the samples shows no difference between infected and uninfected people. His logs stop the day before they arrived on station.
After some debate they decide to return to the shuttle and leave but Daphne sabotages it before transforming into a red skulled creature when she's caught and the lights go out. In the confusion Garett and Vikingbaum dissapear and a red skulled creature evacuates Shaggy, Scooby, Velma and Fred into space. Fred manages to get into the mystery machine and uses fireworks as a makeshift propulsion system to rescue the others and return to the station.
They then run into Daphne who protests she was locked in the supply closet before they speculate removing their helmets will reveal the attacker because it can't subsist on a normal human atmosphere. At which point Fred and Velma realize what's going on and they lay a trap in the ore processing plant capturing a red skulled creature which is in fact officer Soung using the stolen holographic technology to appear as different people as well as the red skulled creature. He had attacked and imprisoned the crew because he'd discovered heavy gold deposits which he'd filled an emergency escape shuttle with and planned to trigger an SOS warning people to stay away when he made his escape.
IDEAS
This really could be run as a Dr Who episode with the party depending on their nature being on board a space shuttle. The traditional Dr Who party could just arrive on board and decide to stay since the two crew members greet them happily rather than trying to imprison them. While a more unit based one are on the shuttle officially as part of an inspection party.
Arriving on the station the warning can have been made by one of the crew members to eliminate the time travel aspect.
As for the threat you can either play it as per the episode with the medical officer disabling the other crew members out of greed for a gold deposit he'd found while checking the surface for contaminants (Bigger stronger men being disbaled through his use of medical override to trigger sedatives in their suits emergency system which the player characters don't have). Depending on how dangerous you want it you can either have him actually murdering the crew, securing them somewhere till he triggers an SOS/explosion to remove the evidence or just securing them till he can escape with a fortune in gold. Alternatively you could replace it with a real alien threat say the Vashta Narada (if you want to show the transformation as less a transformation and more one way) or the thing from the movie "the thing".
Of course you'd need to try and seperate the players a bit and run each person alone or in small groups to play up the paranoia of who is infected and who isn't so by the time they all stop doing that they genuinely don't know who to trust. You could even get players to play infected or imposter characters to keep them involved.
