One of the players in a PbP game I'm running rolled a Presence+Convince check to attempt to lie to another character. I'm stuck on what attribute + attribute/ attribute + skill combo I should roll to see if the NPC figures out he's lying.
Any suggestions?

I usually use Awareness + Ingenuity to see if they smell something fishy.

I use Presence+Subterfuge for telling the lie. I let the player choose between Awareness+Ingenuity OR Awareness+Subterfuge to resist.
But this is only for PC vs PC lies. If an NPC is attempting to lie to a PC I just make my own secret roll for the PC with the better of their two combos.
