question here : one of my players has been transported to another planet. That's tough stuff on the human body and he is kinda disoriented/weak. he wants to look around but i think he needs to roll in order to notice certain things ( i.e his surrounding, where he is ,...etc ) he would be rolling what exactly?
Awareness + what skill? survival? or would he just roll : Awareness + 2 six sided dice? he doesn't really have any traits that i see that would help
thanks!

If it's just straight perception I'd do double awareness. If it's looking for something specific like food, water or shelter i'd do awareness and survival. Beyond that Awareness and other skills could be looking for clues such as awareness and marksman to identify laser marks or awareness and fighting to analyse an opponent's fighting style. To answer your original question double awareness is the way I'd go but ultimately you're the gm

Anytime I think I need to roll Awareness + Awareness, I reconsider. Usually its better to tell the player what they can see/hear/etc. If a character is disoriented, just give them less information. "The room is spinning so much, all you can tell is that there are people in it, but you can't tell who they are or what they're doing." No need for a roll.

I usually go for Awareness(to actually perceive stuff) + Intellect(to realise it's important) where no specific skill is called for.
