Anyone here ever do it? I've been considering it myself lately . . .

Anyone here ever do it? I've been considering it myself lately . . . In what sense? Decor or layout?

Decor, no. Layout yes.
This is a plan of Hex's TARDIS's control room and the various doors connecting from it that I posted in the What should I put behind the TARDIS doors? thread. It works with his hexagonal theme/obsession.
There was an article in Diary of Doctor Who RPG (Issue 3, page 33-) on mapping the interior of a TARDIS, specifically using Visio. That issue also has some ideas and pictures on interior style.

Check out the teaser scene for our campaign's most recent adventure, "The Edge of Extinction," for a detailed description of the Lost Doctor's new TARDIS interior.

As heretical as it might seem, I keep coming back to the concept of six control panels surrounding a single position. Given that my POV Time Lord is named The Engineer, I figure he's been working on "improving" the design of his Type 55 TARDIS for some time.
