You actually brought up a good point that I forgot to bring up in my Spyfall Part 1 post on the spoiler section. Mainly because I needed to talk to the Admins about problems with the boards, and the fact that I was getting over the shock of seeing The Master back as a male. Given that we know the Master planted himself in MI6 during the 70's, I guess we can assume he had a hand with planning the downfall of UNIT after the Saxon Master and Missy were gone? Just common sense, but I wanted to bring that up. Out of curiosity, can you take a guess on how many months it'll take before we see more episodes?

Out of curiosity, can you take a guess on how many months it'll take before we see more episodes? Well, Sylvie and I are alternating between several RPG one-on-one campaigns - Lady Penelope's Odyssey being one of those. We should resume Season 14 circa late April / early May.

So it'll most likely come out after my Birthday has passed. That's fine. Personally, I half-wished that you would've responded by saying "Not at least until late April/early May." That way I could've gone "You can't take a guess until late April/early May?" It's a reference to an old comedy I adore. I'm sure you know which one. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Lady Penelope and hopefully I'll be back to my campaign with the first few "Modern Who" Episodes in the next week or two.

(The comedy ref does ring a bell but I failed my Ingenuity+Knowledge roll - could you give me the title?)
Actually, due to various circumstances, we may resume Season 14 sooner than previously mentioned; I'll keep you posted anyway. Thanks for the interest you show for our campaign.

Yes! We’re back – already! Season 14 of Lady Penelope’s Odyssey was supposed to be on a break for a few months / weeks / whatever – but we’ve decided to go on. To cut a long story short: covid-19 lockdown, necessary dose of escapism, change of plans. Here are the blurbs of the two latest episodes, which took our Time Lady to 17th century France, in the time of Cardinal Mazarin… Episode 7: The Ravens of DespairIn 1648 France, Lady Penelope, the Count of Saint-Germain and the musketeers Taillefer and Bellegarde find themselves investigating the mysteries of a demon-riddled nunnery - but the devils tormenting the local sisters are of a most unusual type: no mass hysteria, debauched orgies or spectacular possessions. Only despair – dark, bottomless and all-engulfing… Episode 8: The Marquis de CarabasParis, 1648. Following the events of the previous episode, Lady Penelope and her companions Saint-Germain, Taillefer and Bellegarde decide to investigate the enigmatic, eccentric and extravagant Marquis de Carabas… Yes, it’s the same name as the imaginary character from Puss in Boots – a fairy tale dating from 1695 or so… But what is chronology to an Eternal? As usual, see my BLOG for some extra details and actual play notes!

i just wanted to say I am very impressed with your site and I love reading all the re-cap stories. You're welcome! I wish I could do longer recaps but this would really be far too time-consuming... so I hope my four-line blurbs and the attached notes and comments are enough to spark interest in Lady Penelope's Odyssey. Speaking of which I really must work on next Saturday's episode...

Continuing our fourteenth season of Lady Penelope's Odyssey... (incidentally,I've just calculated that the first episode of our next season will be... episode 200; I ought to make this a milestone of some sort). Episode 9: Ends and MeansFollowing her deliberate regeneration, Susan has decided to leave Avalon to find a place in Gallifrey’s rising new order. A saddened Doctor asks Penelope to take his granddaughter back to the Time Lords’ home planet, where the usual amount of secrecy, scheming and skullduggery awaits the Time Lady – not to mention the Rani’s latest soulless science project. Episode 10: Night of the Machine MenThe Time Lady returns to Avalon with a new travelling companion – Alecta who, being Rassilon’s daughter, is fed up with being used as a pawn on the grand Gallifreyan political chessboard! To celebrate this decision, Penelope takes her new protégée to 1928 Paris! But in the shadows of the Grand Guignol theatre, the Machine Men are already waiting for her… As usual, see MY BLOG for extra details and actual play notes!

Episode 11: Sanctuary
On her way to New Byzantium in the 42nd century, Penelope catches a distress call coming from a 22nd century… not from space but from within the vortex itself! After rescuing the crew from certain death, the Time Lady and Alecta soon discover that the family of four is obviously hiding something. A tale of shattered pasts, guilty consciences and hard choices… Episode 12: Race Against TimeFollowing her arrival on New Byzantium with Alecta and the Andersons, Penelope once again meets the enigmatic Velkis, who are waiting for her with some very important information to impart. Ancient secrets are revealed, patterns emerge, seemingly unconnected events come into perspective… and Something Terrible is about to happen somewhere in Time and Space. As usual, see my BLOG for some extra notes & details (including something quite nifty about the Weeping Angels' origins...).

I was so pleased with our latest episode that I couldn't wait until the end of the season to summarize it, as I had intended at first... Episode 13: Burning Bright
After being ambushed by a Weeping Angel, Penelope finds herself stranded, alone and TARDIS-less, in 1827 London… But Time works in mysterious ways and a good Samaritan soon offers help and hospitality to the “lost traveler”. His name is William Blake – visionary artist and man of faith, madman and sage. Together, they will battle the Power of the Abyss… As usual, see MY BLOG for some extra notes and details!

Season 14 has reached its climactic finale! Episode 14: The Prague ConvergenceHoping to rescue Alecta from the thrall of Kronos before he is reborn as a single, godlike entity, Lady Penelope and the Doctor arrive in 1913 Prague, where the Weeping Angels are gathering en masse for the Great Event. In the Café Louvre, Franz Kafka direct them to the enigmatic Kronos Institute, where a man from the future is attempting to rewrite history... Episode 15: Facing KronosAvalon is the only thing that stands between the Weeping Angels Gestalt and their final rebirth as the omnipotent Kronos. The only way to stop them would be to rewrite their very reality using the Key of Time, recreated by the Doctor through the mathematical magic of block transfer computation. It is now time for Lady Penelope to face Kronos – or die trying… As usual, see MY BLOG for some extra notes and details...

Hello everyone! Sylvie and I have begun a new season of Lady Penelope's Odyssey, starting with a diptych set in 1901 Ireland featuring the visionary poet W.B. Yeats and misguided mystics meddling with the Ancient Powers of the Earth... Episode 1: An Otherworldly Lady
Dublin, October 1901. The energy of the new century has reinvigorated the spirit of ancient ages. Enjoying a bit of temporal tourism in a beautiful city brimming with dreams, ideas and visions, Lady Penelope meets the greatest Irish poet of his time, William Butler Yeats, who also happens to believe in Magic, Faeries and the Unseen… Let the play begin! Episode 2: Sleeping GodsSamhain draws near. A time where the Gates to the Otherworld open and the Unseelie wreak havoc upon the world of man. Following the events in Dublin, Penelope and Yeats arrive in Coole Park, home of the famous Lady Augusta Gregory on the west coast of Ireland. Can they stop the agents of the Red Twilight before they awake the dark, ancient powers of the land? As usual, you can find some extra GMing notes on my BLOG.

I've always liked Yeats and his weird mystical inclinations (though not necessarily his fascist leanings).
There are fascinating cross-overs between Yeats, Crowley, 'Sidney Reilly', Maxwell Knight and many others in the areas of intelligence, mysticism, fascism and writing. You can plan a version of 'Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon' with Crowley and connect almost anyone, from Jack Parsons to Ian Fleming, Robert Heinlein and W. Somerset Maugham....
Yeats has great potential in himself; was the body repatriated in '48 really his? What actually happened when he underwent the "Steinach operation" in 1934?
- This was one of those bits of real-life weirdness that seems belong in a Dorothy Sayers novel, along with injecting "bits of monkey glands" to cure criminals. It involved a unilateral vasectomy which Steinach theorised would shift the balance from sperm production toward increased hormone production; Yeats was operated upon and experienced a "'second puberty" and sudden burst of productivity.
- And the story of the repatriation of his remains in 1948 has elements of a comedy or horror story; there is actually doubt about what was brought back and interred in Sligo. Shades of Harry Clarke....
- This, to stray utterly off-topic, links Yeats to one of my favourite oddballs, Gertrude Atherton (the mystic, feminist, writer and activist: wiki) whose theory that San Francisco Bay was a relatively new creation I've mentioned before. Atherton wrote a book Black Oxen (title lifted from Yeats) about an aging woman who becomes young again after glandular treatment.
You mentioned the Battle of Blythe Road, there's certainly material in the Yeats/Maters/Crowley relationship, and the various organisations, for a Secret History campaign.
Keep it up!

Reading the summaries, I felt a frisson similar to that of spotting a filming location you recognise when watching a film or TV programme. I've visited Coole Park several times on holidays in Ireland. The house is gone now of course, but the gardens and woods are beautiful. It's reminded me that the last time I went, I bought a couple of Lady Augusta's books of Irish mythology in the gift shop but have never got around to reading them - I'll have to dig them out.

Episode 3: Rising KingsFollowing her clash with the Lloigor in 1901 and her discoveries about the Lost Branch of the Tanu, Penelope goes back to the alternate future of King Arthur, in 2123, to study the situation of Ireland in this bright new age and, perhaps, the possibilities of regenerating the last of its dormant Tanu - only to discover that the dark powers of the earth are rising again… Episode 3 was the epic conclusion of our ‘Irish triptych’ – and marked a new beginning for Lady Penelope, who regenerated into her seventh incarnation after a climactic and desperate battle with a gigantic Lloigor incarnate! See my BLOG for extra notes - including more details on Lady Penelope's seventh incarnation!

Lady Penelope is enjoying a summer holiday of dolce vita, farniente and post-regenerative contemplation in one of her favorite destinations… but Time soon catches up with her, in the shape of a familiar face and a mysterious, anachronistic gentleman, who turns out to be a 28th century professional assassin sent to kill her… The game is afoot!
