Ok, so spoilers if you've not seen the end of the last season, but I reckon we should be past that now Quick thought I had that I'm curious if anyone else agrees with. At the start/end on 'Hell Bent', in the Diner, does anyone else think the Doctor is lying? The memory thing didn't take anything, it just didn't work at all. He might even have faked passing out. He remembers everything, saying he could 'fill in the gaps' is just another lie. This is just his way of saying goodbye, and making sure Clara is ok before walking away. He knows Me will keep her out of the TimeLord's hands, and he can't bear to watch her eventually die again. But he also knows that he has to let her go, as he's been a bit crazy recently trying to hold on to her. Their relationship has been characterised by them lying to each other constantly, why change now? Although I think Clara does fall for it as she seems genuinly upset he has apparently forgotten her. Of course I may just be being slow as everyone else might be saying "How did you NOT get that it was obvious!"

I had my suspicions about that as well always seemed odd the non-telepathic human clara could wipe out huge chunks of his memory considering immensely powerful time lords failed at that task and even if she did that he wouldn't move heaven and earth to find out what he'd forgotten.
