Here's something I came up with a while ago: Military Ranks of the Church of the Papal M....pdf (92.47 KB) I wanted to have an idea for the levels of the Military Rank trait for the clerics as seen in The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone. Of course, there are loads of other clerical titles I could have used - dean, cannon, chaplain, etc - but I think I'm happy with the ones I settled on. Hopefully I've got the relative seniority of the titles in the correct order! The multiple classes of Bishop are lifted directly from the show, with Father Octavian introducing himself as Bishop, Second Class.

Looks good but Quartermaster Sergeant was usually a position rather than a rank and where it was a rank it was a senior NCO grade, above sergeant. You could also use some of the traditional minor orders such as porter, lector, exorcist, cantor, acolyte and subdeacon.

Yes, there are loads of other titles that could be slotted in, but I primarily wanted to identify equivalents to the main army ranks. I included Quartemaster-Sergeant as I love the idea that a Sexton performs more or less the same function for the church, i.e. looking after the hardware, so to speak! But maybe the position of the Sexton/Quartermaster-Sergeant should be swapped with the Deacon/Sergeant on the chart.

Or Lector-Vicar for some specialist type, electronics or intelligence for example.

Yep, there's loads of scope for additional, specialist ranks to be slotted in. In one of my early versions I included Cardinals above the Archbishops, sort of equivalent to a Grand Marshal perhaps.

This is cool stuff! The other titles would fit in nicely as specialist ranks. Exorcists could be snipers, Acolytes-Engineers/Sappers, Lectors-Drill Instructors.
Ever since I saw these episodes Father Octavian has been one of my favourite characters in the new series. I'd like to see some supplement info come out for the DWRPG regarding this faction.
