For all you Brony Whovians out there, this is for you. I've had this idea for a while. DWAITAS lends itself rather well to MLP's pacifistic nature. Just some bare bones stuff right now. Let me know what you think!
Doctor Whooves: Ponies in Time and Space
New Traits
Blank Flank (Special Bad)
Prerequisite: Pony
A young filly’s childhood can be especially tough before she earns her cutie mark. She is often derided by her peers, but can find solace with other like-minded foals.
Effect: Gives 1 Character Point. A young filly can attract social stigma form certain mean spirited ponies before earning her cutie mark. This can, in some instances, grant a -2 penalty in social rolls. It is recommended that the player speak with the GM before acquiring the trait. It is also recommended that this trait be restricted to young foals and not full grown ponies.
Note: Cannot be taken with the Cutie Mark Trait.
Cloud Kicker (Special Good)
Prerequisite: Pony
Pegasi not only have wings and flight, but they can also physically, walk on, kick, and shape clouds. A Pegasus can walk on clouds just as easily as solid ground. In fact, they make entire cities completely out of the stuff.
Effect: Costs 1 Character Point. Pegasi can interact with clouds as if they were solid objects. They can walk, bite, and even sleep on them with no fear of falling through. They can also shape them with a successful Craft + Coordination roll with a Difficulty dependent on the complexity. Craft may be substituted with Athletics with GM’s approval. Pegasi may choose to treat clouds as vapor whenever they want.
Cutie Mark (Major Good)
Prerequisite: Pony
All ponies have a symbol on their hindquarters representing their special talent. All ponies acquire theirs at some point during their foalhood. The Cutie Mark represents a ponies very identity and is representative of a pony’s destiny. Oddly, many pony’s names manage to sync perfectly with a pony’s cutie mark, even though they are named years before they have any idea what their mark could be. A unicorn’s special talent is usually something fairly specific, such as dress making, racing, or applebucking. A pony’s particular talent and cutie mark should be discussed between the player and the GM.
Effect: A cutie mark represents a pony’s special talent, whatever it may be. The pony gains an Area of Expertise worth +3 in any one skill representing their special talent.
A cutie mark is directly attached to a pony’s destiny. If, when rolling her special talent, a double is rolled on two die other than double 1’s, the pony earns a story point.
Pony (Special Good)
Ponies are a unique race that have harnessed a strange, ephemeral form of magic. They come in all shapes, sizes, and especially colors.
Effect: Costs 2 Character Points. The Pony Trait acts as a gateway trait, much like “Alien” in the core DWAITAS rulebooks. There are some benefits. All ponies gain a +2 to Speed do to their equine characteristics.
Ponykinesis (Special Good)
Prerequisite: Pony
All unicorns are taught from an early age the basics of telekinesis. Channeling her magic through her horn, a unicorn can concentrate on an object or objects an lift them through the air. A unicorn cannot use this trait if her horn is somehow mystically impeded, usually through dark magic, or literal removal of the horn.
Effect: Costs 2 Character Points. Functions as Telekinesis (Player’s Guide pg. 45)
Unicorn Magic (Special Good)
Prerequisite: Pony, Ponykinesis
With time and practice, a unicorn can learn more advanced magic spells concerning their special talent. Most unicorns have tricks and spells only befitting their talents. Some unicorns have more advanced, varied abilities, but these are very rare.
Effect: Costs 2 Character Points and 2 Story Points. When performing an action connected to her special talent, a pony can spend 1 or more Story Points to obtain some advantage. The number of story points is determined by the GM, but the cost should be associated with the level of advantage.
For example: Rarity’s special talent is dress making. She is currently looking for gems for a new line of dresses she is making. The GM allows her to spend 1 Story Point to cast a spell locating nearby gems.
Twilight’s special talent is magic itself. She wants to use magic to calm an Ursa Minor by casting a spell to blow the wind into a lullaby, pick up and empty a nearby water tower, milk a barn-full of cows into it, feed the Ursa the milk, and send it back home. Such a phenomenal feat will require a large amount of story points, maybe 9+. Good thing she spent the episode earning story points by being on the fence about using her magic to solve the problem early on.
