Here's my first ever attempt at writing a conversion between 2 systems. I would definately appreciate any advice or comments on this, so I could improve it in the future. www.filefront.com/15178831/FASA%20to%20DWAITAS%20Conversion.pdfEDIT: Here is conversion attempt 1.2 I've changed it according to suggestions here that Attributes in FASA should be reduced in order to make it more in line with what is considered 'Average' in DWAITAS. I discovered that in the case of converting to Resolve, the average of Endurance and Mentality should be rounded UP rather than down. This seems to even out the spread of the scores better. www.filefront.com/15197255/Conversion1.2.pdf

That looks spot on. I was thinking of doing something similar but haven't had a chance yet. No need now because you did a great job. Many thanks.

Going back over 30 or so former PC's and NPC's that I have in a folder from our FASA Doctor Who days, I am seeing a pattern...characters that are a lot more points than a DWAITS character would be. One issue we had with the FASA game is that Companions like Rose would be hard to build a lot of the time because the game gave you too many points. (We ran into the same issue in the playtest for the new game..thus, the Inexperienced trait). You'll have a lot more characters like Captain Jack. My old PC Time Lord required 5 levels of Experienced Time Lord and 3 levels of Experienced to afford all his skills and stats. Then again, he was a CIA operative -BOTH CIA's in fact- and sort of a Time Lord James Bond.
The problem seems to be that having a IV is a quite common among FASA characters even though the average is supposedly III. I might reccomend for characters that you consider subtracting 1 from the performance levels, with a minimum of 2 for PC's unless a 1 would fit the concept.
I might sit down tonight and generate a FASA character and then convert it..it's possible a newly created character might convert better than one who had been played for awhile.

Looking at the FASA game tonight, I noticed that for attributes a stat of III is "Basic" and a stat of IV is "Average". Since in DWAITS 3 is the average score for humans, I think subtracting one from the Performance Level gives good results for humans.

Having taken a quick peek through some of the old material I have for the FASA game, that a friend has been storing for me, I would be inclined to agree with you on this. I had always wondered on why they went with Level IV being average, as it went against a lot of other conventions of the time.

Hullo, folks,
Been thinking of running some of the old FASA adventures on my gaming group, and have a question about the FASA rules themselves, in terms of the conversion.
When it comes to the Difficulty of a task in the FASA game, how would you convert them to the DW: AiTaS system?

The file seems to no longer exist. I'd love to see the conversion pdf. So would I. I PM'ed him several months back and got a response back that he had computer problems and could not find the file and that he would try to find said file. But I have not gotten anything back. Also, he has been quite absent from these boards since.
