I'm currently statting up NPCs for my next DWAiTAS session, and I'm having a bit of trouble working out how to create a Psychic sub-trait to represent the Technokinesis ability, since it has such a wide range of applications. Anyone have any thoughts on how they would write up this ability as a DWAiTAS/Vortex trait?

One possibility:- Technokinesis[Psychic, Major] You can operate technological devices at range with a Resolve+Technology roll. If the device in question is sapient (an AI or android) you must beat its Presence+Resolve roll to resist your influence, for which purpose some AIs and androids may have Psychic Training or other Traits to make control more difficult.

You could also have a couple of related traits: Technopsychic [Special Good 2] - To be able to remotely access/read data in computers and other electronics. Technopsychic is otherwise as the Psychic trait, but uses Resolve + Technology rolls. Could also be used in place of Psychic as the prerequisite for Technokinesis and Technoclairvoyance. Technoclairvoyance [Special Good 2; Prerequisite - Psychic or Technopsychic] - To be able to see from the POV of electronic devices (cameras, sensors, artificial eyes, etc). Technoclairvoyance is as per the Clairvoyance trait for determining range, but uses Resolve + Technology rolls.

Thanks guys! Makes sense for it to be handled by alternate versions of the existing Psychic trait and its subtraits, since it's a very specialised kind of psychic ability.

I personally think the progression should be
Technically Adept: The equivalent here of Psychic Training, in that if you take this trait it gives you +2 to Technology and Technopsychic rolls, and reduces the cost of Technopsychic to 1 CP.
Technopsychic: Costs 2 CP or 1 CP if you have Technically Adept
Then have Technokinesis and Technoclairvoyance each cost 2 CP with Technopsychic as the prerequisite just like for the normal Psychic trait, but don't require Psychic, since it's a pretty different power.

This makes having both slightly cheaper than if you have to by Psychic and Technipsychic separately, buy more expensive than either individually.

Well, that would mean anyone who is really adept at technology and also is also capable of rudimentary psychic abilities automatically has the ability to mess with technology. You could do this if your campaign centered around the concept, but could be problematic otherwise.

Yeah, it seems like it would allow too broad a range of at this: Technology Adept is to Technopsychic what Psychic Training is to Psychic.
