While the show’s 50th Birthday is on November 23, 1963, the Doctor himself appears to have been born on March 30th in the year 1213 AD. (see below for the math)
Which would make him 800 years old, (during his 4th incarnation while traveling with Romana and K-9 near the end of Season 17). The big 800 is a date well worth celebrating! Maybe the BBC should commemorate it by showing some new Dr Who today – oh wait!
For those who care: Otherstide is a Gallifreyan Holiday that celebrates the banishing of the Other, the mysterious 3rd founder of Time Lord society. For the next several million years of Gallifreyan History, no Gallifreyan leaves their houses on Otherstide Eve, and gifts are give to time-tots on the actual day.
The Logic (and math) behind the Madness: Gallifrey days, and years are the same as Earth (The Infinity Doctors), so it makes sense that there should me a meaningful day of the Earth year that the Doctor is born. The Doctor’s birthday falls on the Gallifreyan holiday Otherstide (Lungbarrow) which day 162 of the Gallifreyan year (Gallifrey Chronicles). According to the dates presented in the 1996 TV movie new year's eve on Gallifrey occurs at about Oct 20 (give or take a few days). So if we add 162 days we see that we see that Otherstide falls on March 30th (depending on if there’s a leap year). We also know that the Doctor was born in the year 1213 AD Gallifreyan Relative Time (Gallifrey Chronicles). So today is the Doctor’s 800th Birthday!
