Of the two adventures in the core set's Adventure Book, which one do you plan to run first?
I was thinking Arrowdown but given that we'll be taking a couple of weeks off after this Friday, Judoon! might be better.

Some of the plot ideas at the back are a bit epic... I was thinking they might be good too.

Had our first test game last night, and I choose Arrowdown.
Judoom seemed a little lackluster during my reading of it, but we shall see.

Judoom! is (coincidentally) rather like the first two-parter of The Sarah Jane Adventures S3, except that it's Sarah Jane who gets possessed by the Judoon's escaped prisoner rather than the Judoon captain, so the kids have to team up with him and hilarity ensues.
Hmm. That could be a fun twist for the player involved, playing the possessed character - or the Judoon captain instead.

We did play Judoom and it went very well. everyone loved Flo My wife deliberatley got her character possessed (love that Impulsive trait) so they could get the alien where they needed it to be faster! i haven't got to read the adventures yet. Grr. What do people think of them so far? How do they compare to the playtest adventure? Or adventures demoed at conventions? [Still hoping for that Sally Sparrow adventure]

i haven't got to read the adventures yet. Grr. What do people think of them so far? How do they compare to the playtest adventure? Or adventures demoed at conventions? [Still hoping for that Sally Sparrow adventure] I like them both but long experience has taught me an adventure can run differently than it reads. I enjoyed Judoom a lot; humor and danger together. Short, but challenging. In true fashion, the crew got through without violence, and one of them performed a very heroic (if not somewhat foolhardy) act to help resolve the situation. I plan to run Arrowdown at our local gaming club when it starts up again in January. I think that group will love it, especially the mystery aspects. Remember that guy that wrote the now-disspeared blog post in which he talked about an adventure he was working on in somewhat greater detail than he should have? That was Alasdair Stuart, who wrote both of the adventures and all of the adventure seeds in the booklet. I hope he's been forgiven and allowed to continue his work because I really like his method of writing adventures! Allen

I might run some Demos locally, but honestly I'm going to build my own adventure using some interesting Historical disapearances as the theme.

I'm definitely going to run Arrowdown, followed by a dose of the Cybermen...

I ran part of Arrowdown a couple of weeks ago (Finishing it this weekend) as part of an intor to my T6 campaign. So far the players are enjoying it.
And I agree allen, adventures never go as planned. Apparently, my players (2 in paticular who've been nicknamed "The Myth Busters") are looking for a way to Macgyver a flamethrower to deal with the critters in town (Trying to be vague to avoid adventure spoilers when possible ^_^ ). Definitely a great idea, though definitely not covered in the book. Should be interesting when we resume.

I'll have to reread them both, but I'm leaning more toward Judoom! as a starting adventure between the two. Arrowdown is simply too continuity-laden for my taste for an initial outing.
Look at it, I see mention of no less than 3 'villain' species or organizations. While they don't all come into play, they all have their roles in the story, and I'm afraid it might alienate someone not as familiar with the series.
Judoom! on the other hand has an original alien menace, and one of the more charismatic species from the series. (As a friend put it "You've got to love the Judoon... there's something completely mental about them. I mean... they're a Rhino, in a spacesuit!")
