OK, here's what I've already written which could be used for this one:

Veltrochni - an alien species from The Dark Path
Selachians - the villains of The Murder Game (also appeared in The Final Sanction and The Selachian Gambit)
Trods, robotic creatures from several of the 2nd Doctor's TV Comic stories

Again, they probably need a bit of revision and tidying up.

I'll wait and see what others pick from the list before volunteering for any more - happy to pick up some of the less popular stuff, though I have to say there are quite a lot of books on this list that I've not read.


EDIT: I've realised that I've also got a write-up of Horatio Nelson, who featured in one of the stories from the 1968 Annual (and also made a cameo appearance in World Game).

I'm also thinking I might write a short piece on the 2nd Doctor's exile on Earth at the end of his stint in TV Comic, ending with his regeneration in The Night Walkers and possibly including stats for the Time Lords' scarecrow servants from that story.

Just a thought about The Destroyers - this one doesn't feature the Doctor at all, even though it was included in the Second Doctor Lost Stories CD box-set. It may be better suited either to the Extracanonical Hartnell (as it stars Sara Kingdom) or to a Doctor-less volume if there is going to be one. My vote would be for the latter, as the story uses other characters who first appeared in the Dalek Books of the 1960s.

I thought we were still working on Hartnell so didn't know I should come here already. I'd like to claim Twilight of the Gods, The Dark Path, Murder Game, and Dreams of Empire. It looks like Mr Harry has some of that, not sure if he wants to be all inclusive on those works or not.

Also, are we going to cover Downtime? We covered the Time Musuem under Hartnell because even though the Doctor doesn't appear it is thematically linked to the Hartnell era. Downtime is a sequal to Web of Fear, a Troughton story so I always consider it a 2nd Doctor story even though it does have an older Sarah Jane Smith and Brigadier who are from beyond the Troughton era.

I was also planning on covering the Animus' fungus creatures, the Gods of Light, Ailla and the Darkheart, but happy to pass them to you.

Maybe I should ask a different question. What books/audios have neither of you read or listened to? I've read all of the books except for the brand new Wheel of Ice. I also now own all the BF 2nd Doctor audios. I haven't listened to them yet but will do so over the next couple of months. I'm more than willing to take on anything neither of you have (since I think its better when you're writing from the primary source material rather than secondary online sources) except for Combat Rock. That book is so bad that I never want to look at it again.

To bad Mr Harry's taken all the best stuff except for Dreams of Empire. :-)

Notably, while the back half of the book is in the style of the first Doc's (by story), the front half is in the style of our own unofficial sourcebook (Doc/Companions, Gadgets, Villains)!

Anyway, this is a sign for me to start work on the 2nd book while we put the finishing touches on the first. I'll be starting page and cover design soon, will update the list of stories above, and start receiving entries! Exciting!

Of that list IMHO The Roundheads and The Menagerie were the best so I'll take on those on.

Suggestions:

Twilight of the Gods - Something ought to be included on the Rhumons I think. Since Mr Harry is covering that one I'll just take it if he wants to pass.

Dark Path - Something needs to be written on Koschei although I guess that could go under Alia because the sourcebooks will never detail his time as a CIA agent and I think that's a fascinating subject to broach and an interesting way of using the Master. His Traits would be different which is the only reason why I suggest that as an additional entry.

Murder Game: Assasination Program as a gadget. Would be happy to cover it if Mr Harry does not but assuming he will since its part of the same story.

I will cover:

The Menagerie - Meckrim and the Menagerie, but I think that the location is going to need two pages just so that you can lay things out for that.

The Roundheads - Civil War England but suggest adding Oliver Cromwell as an ally and Gustavus van Leeuwenhoek as an enemy. The idea of a spy thriller type assassination going on in that early period is kind of neat and its a character type and conceit that I can see others using in their game. Cromwell just because we have a dearth of historical figures this time so it'd be nice to detail another one.

Dreams of Empire - VETAC Robots and Santespri

World Game - I think I'll take on both of these just because I want to do the sidebar in Season 6B. :-)

Siskoid if you don't have Invasion of the Cat People I'll take on those two entries. It was not my favorite story by a mile but I find it more readable than most of the later BBC books 2nd Doctor books.

As for the audios, I just finished the Hartnell audios and have all the Troughton one waiting to be listened to. I can listen to them at a rate of 2-3 per week (about halfway through Resistance now as I listen to them in Doctor chronology order) so if you guys could just wait a little while on dividing up the audio entries I'd appreciate it.

Also because I don't notice it down there is the Destiny of the Doctors entry for Troughton on that list?

Happy for you to take on all of those if you want - I've limited myself to the entries from these novels that I listed above.

Er, I've already got something written for Season 6B, which also incorporates the 2nd Doctor's exile and delayed regeneration as seen in TV Comic (mentioned in one of my posts further up this thread). Do you want to take a look at it and add any comments/suggestions?

Oliver Cromwell plays a bigger role in the 7th Doctor audio The Settling, so I'd keep him for then.

And why ask about Destiny of the Doctors? The video game is obviously an artifact of 80s Doctor Who (with Ainley in the role of the Master)? What connection am I not seeing?

I think that's Destiny of the Doctor (singular), the monthly audios from AudioGO/Big Finish for the 50th anniversary. The Troughton story was out in February - Shadow of Death.
