Wow, you're a quick one Mr Harry. I was going to suggest the Time Fungus but you're right that the Attic is probably better for an overall effect.

Mr Harry, Just a quick question but have you already started working on your writeups for the Dark Planet and Upstairs?

The entry for Cedric may need some minor revision, as we learn about what happened to him after the events of Hunters of Earth in the final story in the Destiny of the Doctor series.

Keeping this thread updated with potential new sources which can be used in a future edition of the sourcebook - just to note that Big Finish have released the first story in their new Early Adventures series. The first series of four stories stars the 1st Doctor:
Domain of the Voord (just released) The Doctor's Tale (due Oct) The Bounty of Ceres (due Nov) An Ordinary Life (due Dec)

Any thoughts on the timing of a second edition of this sourcebook? With the release of The First Doctor Box Set by Big Finish, I think there have now been 14 new stories in the Companion Chronicles and Early Adventures ranges since the first edition was published.

How about we look into it after 4th is done (or while it's being finished)? So sometime this year.

With my contributions for the 4th Doctor's volume more or less complete, my thoughts are starting to turn to what's needed for the second edition of the 1st Doctor sourcebook.
The following are the new stories that have appeared since the first edition was released and can now be included (together with my suggestions for possible entries from each):
[Sk = Siskoid; MH = misterharry]
COMPANION CHRONICLES (AUDIOS) The Alchemists - Location/Berlin, 1932 (including stats for Pollitt) [Sk?] Upstairs - Location/The Attic of Number 10 Downing Street (including the Time Fungus) [MH] The Beginning - The Archaeons [MH] The Sleeping City - Location/Hisk [MH] Starborn - The Starborn [MH] The War to End All Wars - Steven Taylor, Sida, Location/Comfort [all MH] The Sleeping Blood - Location/Ruah [MH] The Unwinding World - The System [MH] The Founding Fathers - "The Doctor" [MH], Benjamin Franklin [Sk?] The Locked Room - Gadget: The Vardan Converter [MH]
LOST STORIES (AUDIOS) The Dark Planet - Location/Numir, The Light, Krogor [all MH]
EARLY ADVENTURES (AUDIOS) Domain of the Voord - Location/Hydra, Sidebar/Voord Initiation: The Becoming [all MH] The Doctor's Tale - Geoffrey Chaucer, Isabella of Valois, Sir Thomas Arundel, possibly Henry IV [all Sk?] The Bounty of Ceres - Location/Ceres (including the Maintenants) [MH] An Ordinary Life - Changelings [MH]
Have I overlooked any others? I know there are also a few short stories which can also be added (I've already got something prepared for a couple of these – Flywheel Revolution and The Arboreals). In addition, I've identified a prose story from 1966 which we didn’t cover in the first edition, a novella-length story published by World Distributors in the same large hardcover format as their annuals:
Doctor Who and the Invasion from Space - I've drafted entries for the Mortimers and The One from this story. The former are a family of peasants who jumped aboard the TARDIS to escape the Great Fire of London and so can be added to the roster of the Doctor's companions (albeit unwilling ones).
I’m intending to start working through these stories shortly, but I won’t keep posting updates on my progress for the moment, as that would probably detract too much from the work continuing on the 4th Doctor book (I’ll also hold off from actually submitting anything yet). But if anyone wants to put themselves forward for any of them, let me know so we can avoid duplication of effort.
Siskoid, can I interest you in any of the historicals from the list, as you seem particularly partial to these? The Alchemists, The Founding Fathers and/or The Doctor's Tale?

I'll have to check them out - I'm really late on new releases. But yes, normally I'm pretty good about doing historical locations and characters.

I'll leave those three stories until last then, in case you want them. In the meantime, I'll update the above post from time to time with progress through the list of stories. Oh, and if you're thinking of expanding the Omitted But Not Forgotten section, here are a few suggestions of prominent characters who haven't been statted yet: Thals (maybe a specific individual such as Alydon), Marc Cory, Jano (there are some guidelines for his traits in the C7 Sourcebook, but not full stats), Sir Charles Summers, Captain Pike and General Cutler. Apart from anything else, with these added, every 1st Doctor TV story would be represented by at least one set of character stats specific to it (well, apart from The Edge of Destruction, of course).

Shouldn't you be thinking of completing the first editions of Doctors 5 to 12 before re-visiting your old work? Perhaps you should put it to a poll?
Regards
Iain
PS If you do decide to re-do the First Doctor book, there's a howler in the timeline section which has Mondas arriving 2 years early

Now sure how howl-worthy that typo is, but it's easily fixed.
And that's all an update would be. Just extra pages and repagination to keep the book current. We were going to do this for every book, a year or two out from their "publishing date". MrHarry has a lot of downtime while the book gets its pictures and layout finalized, and we're very much at the finish line here. So if he wants to work on 1st Doc articles while 4th gets done and 5th ramps up, that's fine by me.

Shouldn't you be thinking of completing the first editions of Doctors 5 to 12 before re-visiting your old work? Perhaps you should put it to a poll? Regards Iain I think the target for completion of the 4th Doctor sourcebook was late 2015 (sometime around the holiday season). So I've completed my share of the writing with 2-3 months to spare. Updating the 1st Doctor sourcebook means covering a mere 15 audios, plus a few odds and sods. By comparison, the 5th Doctor sourcebook will be much larger than any of the previous ones: it will need to cover almost a hundred novels and audios, plus assorted stuff from comics, annuals and short stories. Add to this the fact that virtually all the audios will be 2-discs, whereas up to now they have - with a few exceptions - been one disc each (mainly Companion Chronicles and 4th Doctor Adventures). So that's more or less doubling the listening time required for each audio story. That's a huge workload to come, and quite frankly a daunting task. If I were to dive straight into that right after finishing the 4th Doctor writing, I'd most likely burn out. Updating the 1st Doctor sourcebook before starting on the 5th Doctor volume therefore allows me to keep my hand in while taking the pressure off for a couple of months. Covering 15 stories by Christmas? Easy! However, if any other volunteers want to start work on the 5th Doctor stories while I tackle the 1st Doctor updates and Siskoid & Co finish off the 4th Doctor volume, they would be most welcome! Koloth has already stepped forward to cover the Hannah Bartholomew trilogy, which is superb news. Anyone else willing to get involved in tackling what will be our largest sourcebook yet?

I only recently discovered the extracanonical guides after purchasing all the published ones. Enchanted by the project I sat through Domain of the Voord to write up my notes only to find coming back to the forum that I’ve been beaten to the punch. Having read the submission I do have a couple of questions, mainly about style I guess, for when I tackle some recent 3rd Doctor audio or maybe the 6th if that is what you are all up to. I was going to write up at stat block for the Voord Creatures (created voord) and the voord helmet at equipment but the way you have included these in a description of the becoming ceremony side bar is a much neater and compact way of presenting it, kudos. The write up for Hydra felt brief to me, was that an issue with word count? There was more description of the Autumn Palace provided (marble balcony surrounded people’s hall etc and the rear gardens). No mention of the sea machine was made or other voord weapons/vehicles. I had thought about making the sea machine a gadget but I guess a huge immobile device that gives a +2 or 3 to Voord resolve for telepathy may not justify a separate entry. The only quibble I had with the entry was the description of Hydrans as non-humans. I thought they were one of those far future branches of humans like the Drahvins or Moroks who were no longer associated with Earth. Nebrin said “die human” to Ian before he found out that he was not a local. Why was there no character write-ups? I can understand leaving out generic resistance fighters, voord or even the Overlord who just use Vartex’s stats but Nebrin was an interesting character with his Code of Honour or By the Book traits and Pan Vexel may have also warrented a mention. Anyway I guess what I’m asking is what the thinking was in what to include in an entry and what to exclude.

Thanks for your comments on Domain of the Voord - you raise some interesting points. I wrote the Hydra entry back in September, so the details of the writing process are a little vague now.
The description of Hydra being brief is I think largely down to there being very little tangible information about it to use. On the flip side, the missing descriptive details of the Autumn Palace may well have been a victim of word count - quite often, my first drafts are well over the target 500 words, so I need to trim them down a lot. I don't remember clearly, but it's possible that in this case I decided to remove the finer details of the Autumn Palace in order to retain the more general description of Hydra and the Voord ceremony (which I think I would have considered to be more generally useful to GMs). As for the sea machine, it was also probably omitted due to lack of space - though I don't recall writing any stats for it at all, even in my first draft (I don't retain most of my older drafts, so I can't go back and check).
For me, the decision about whether to include write-ups for specific characters is based on a couple of things. Firstly, is there enough info on them to write 500 words (or around 400 as a minimum and bulk the entry out with something else - an adventure seed, relevant gadget or vehicle stats, or a secondary, thumbnail stats block for a related character)? And secondly, are they interesting or unique enough to warrant their own write-up? I don't recall whether I considered writing a submission for Nebrin or, if I did, whether he passed these criteria. But if you think he's deserving of his own entry in the Addendum, why not have a go at writing it yourself? I'm pretty sure Siskoid hasn't finished work on the Addendum yet, so there's still time.
Whether Hydrans are humans or not is something I do remember giving some thought to. There's nothing definitive to go on, but the culture of Hydra seemed so far removed from being descended from humans capable of space flight (the wooden ships in particular) that I came down on the side of them being non-human. Another writer might have taken a different view and it would be equally valid.
If you're interested in contributing to the project, you'd be most welcome. There are still 20-30 Fifth Doctor stories unclaimed by contributors, so why not have a look and see if any of these interest you?

I very rarely cut anything MrHarry has written, but it does happen that a small stat block for a related character, animal, etc. is omitted for space reasons.
The only mandate we've given ourselves is that each major story (stand-alone audio or novel) gets at least one entry. There are many novels, for example, that would simply break us if we tried to do everything in it, and the sourcebook would be unbalanced as a result. Through the few entries we give a story, its story is generally told, with an eye towards making it useful to GameMasters.
