Well, doesn't totally wipe out the DWAITAS rules on the Angels, even thought it does have them behaving in new and different ways (and demonstrating some new looks, one of them deeply silly).
Not as "oww..." as I thought it might be.

Not as "oww..." as I thought it might be. Why the silly form? Why? Too silly. Also very unlikely it could move. Apart from that, I thought it was ok, not as epic as The Wedding of River Song. Sad, but as you said not as "oww..." as I suspected.

I was also expecting more suckage. Unexpectedly good. So far this is the best companion farewell. Primarily because the angst wasn't drawn out as much as Rose's but just long enough. Also I noticed ( in the Aussie version at least) that there were no spoilers for the next episode.

So River is not guilty because no one in the universe can remember WHO she tried to murder? Yet his companions and River obviously can remember the Doctor. And Kate Stewart (as she summoned him) can also remember the Doctor.

There are just no official records.

This episode... This episode was the 5th in Series 7. I know that much.
The angels seem far from consistant in their behavior. In "Blink" they were silent predators, not killing but rather sending someone back in time. In "The Time of Angels"/"Flesh and Stone" they became sadistic killers, slaughtering left and right not bothering to send anyone back in time. And in this episode they go back to silent predators, though they seem to still have the sadistic nature they developed in the last episode they were in.
On another note, this was not the exit I was suspecting for the Ponds. I just wonder why he didn't travel to someplace outside the city and go get them. I mean he could have gone back after a month or so. The only thing that's still written in stone is that Amy dies at 87 and Rory and 82. We don't even know if they're really buried there.
I'll ignore all of the obvious plot hole and focus on the emotions of the episode... *curls into the fetal position and weeps unashamed.*

The angels do two things: they change methods according to the needs of the plot and they change methods according to the circumstances they are in (which are kind of the same thing). This is entirely normal; if they acted exactly the same way every single time they appeared, wherever they were, that would be far stranger than them changing.

Game Perspective: nice use of Story Points by the Doctor to heal River's hand using his regeneration energy.

Game Perspective: nice use of Story Points by the Doctor to heal River's hand using his regeneration energy. I thought that too. I also pondered the possibility that it would only work on River or another Time Lord. BTW, how many Story Points do you think it cost?

As a GM, if I was running this as a session, I'd rule it as a 1-point Time Lord stunt, as per the rules (GM's book, 'other extraordinary abilities' pp.96) usable only on another Time Lord as you say. If the player(s) came up with the idea to use regeneration energy as a nice bit of narrative and it doesn't affect the scene in any way other than to propel the drama along then I guess 1 point certainly.

Very abrupt and sad way for Amy and Rory to depart
Rory being used to dying was kind of funny, though.

Hits ya right in the feels. I kind of like that story board effect. As a comic book fan, that works for me.

Should be an extra on the dvd, either as is or actually filmed.
