Hello everyone,
Saw the eleventh Doctor Edition in a game shop recently,( two days ago), and couldn't resist . The shop had both the 10th and 11th games and even though I already have the 10th Doctor Edition and Cubicle7 produced a free upgrade pack, it looked so good and I wanted to show some support.
Shiny new stuff attracts new people, so today I've run the included adventure Knight of the Comet for one player completely new to roleplaying and one who played in our campaign.
To make this easy we used the pregens: one scientist and one unit soldier. They both worked for UNIT and were sent to investigate the bracelet.
Arriving in the town, the first thing they do is head for the museum and talk to the Doctor. They touch the Vortex Manipulator and poof end up in the past.
The scientist flees and the soldier dodges the sword of one of the knights. Then she kicks him. Sir Tristan then escorts them from the battlefield and they talked to the king. Sitting to the right of the king is his wife and to the right of him is a mysterious women with black hair. Yes, I literally called her mysterious . The players decided she must be the king's daughter and that she is the prize for the Tournament. They immediately went to the stables to get the bracelet. When they took it out, I described that there were small sparks(paradox). They dropped it and went back to the tournament to find the owner. Talked to a bookmaker and decided to both investigate Sir Tristan and Sir Edgar, but not before picking up the bracelet again and wrapping it in some cloth. The next jousting match was between them and they had seen Sir Edgar walking away from Tristan's horse.
Round 1:
Tristan goes down very easily.
They decided to tell Tristan's servant that his saddle looked off-centre. He investigated and found that someone had lubricated the underside of the saddle.
After switching saddles, Tristan won round two and three.
The king invited them for the feast. They were asked to entertain him and the scientist used his Resourceful Pockets to produce a harmonica and the soldier decided to do a tight-rope act. The Cyberknights entered, challenged and won. They tried to treat the wounded, but rolled badly. The next morning, they finally investigated Morgana and her cannon. They and Morgana entered the ship, whilst the king's guards fought the cybershades. Morgana told them to overload the engine and that she would use the ship's computers find a way for them to get back. The team now knew that she at least knew more about the situation(maybe she was also send back in time by the bracelet), but complied nevertheless.
Standing in the engine room was a Cyberknight, the soldier shot it in between the eyes with her 9mm Pistol. No effect. The scientist produced a rope from his Resourceful Pockets and they used it to trip the Cyberknight. The soldier jumped on it and the scientist overloaded the engines. They fled the ship and had time to warn the guards. Back at the castle, Morgana asked them to come to her room, where she asked for her Vortex Manipulator back. She did aim her Laser Pistol on the scientist, but it wasn't necessary. Everyone ended up back in their own time. The Arthur Experience was convincing, until the scientist checked the reception on his smart phone.
All in all, we had fun.
