At an upcoming convention, I'll be running a Torchwood game. here's the blurb: Torchwood: Gaslight and Shadows
During the Victorian Age, it is said that the sun never sets on the British Empire, the greatest nation on the planet. But there are countless other suns and other planets. From these worlds, strange and alien beings reach out across the gulf of space and time to threaten even the mighty British Empire.
In the great city of London, strange alien dangers stalk the fog-shrouded streets. It falls to you and your colleagues in the newly created Torchwood Institute to keep the streets of London, the Empire, and the very world itself safe. The game is set in London in 1880. The Torchwood Institute is newly created. The player characters are the first group of Torchwood operatives recruited from the length and breadth of the Empire. And one of them may well be the Master...

Alas, the player who was going to be the Master has been forced to run a game that slot. I shall have to come up with a new plot.

What a pity, the master as the first torchwood agent sounded very good...

I ran the game on Sunday. I lost two players before the game due to a death in the family. The remaining players were:
A drunk and a scoundrel with friends in low places [think Eliza Doolittle's dad] he had survived an encounter with an alien insect and lived and was essentially in Torchwood custody
A medium with psychometry who used to consult with the yard and had been 'recruited' by Torchwood
Another medium with low order telepathy/empathy/telekinesis who was a favorite of the Queen and she placed him in Torchwood
A military man whose family may have once been from the area of Torchwood House in Scotland as he was a Lupine Wavelength Haemovarifom or werewolf as Torchwood put it
and, the most competent member of the team...the aging housekeeper whose previous employers had been eaten by aliens. She managed the secret headquarters expertly and was instrumental in saving the world by bashing pcs and npcs alike with tea trays...

Victorian gothic Torchwood - it just sounds so awesome And lots of potential for cool guest NPCs. Really nice character concepts.
