And Cubicle 7 has just confirmed ( in its newsletter): "We will be releasing a free upgrade pack for those who have the Tenth Doctor edition and don't want to buy the Eleventh Doctor Edition, containing the new monsters and character sheets. The all-new Eleventh Doctor Adventures book will also soon be available separately." ;D ;D ;D

Huzzah! Have mine as well.
Little question: My copy of the 10th Doctor edition was store-bought. Not that it matters to me now, but how would others who'd supported their local game shops get the update book?

It took me far longer than I would care to admit to save up enough money to get the original edition. I hope the upgrade includes the new rules, new adventures, new gadgets, and the new character sheets. I know it's a lot to wish for, but the bulk of the material is the rule books anyway. Out of curiosity how will they distribute this update? I got my copy new off Ebay way back when and I don't have the records of getting it anymore.

Nothing as yet on the free upgrade for us who bought the PDF from DriveThruRPG.com. Any chance of posting the 11th Doctors stats?

I took it to mean it would be available as a free download via the C7 website and not that we would have to provide proof of purchase of the 10th Doctor set. As It will only be updates there's not enough information there would be of any use to anyone who didn't own the game anyway.

I'll check with Dom and see if I can't post the character sheet up here. Incidentally, you might be interested to know that all 11 Doctors were developed sequentially, so each one is more advanced than the last, as a real character would be. We started with the 10th Doctor as the baseline and figured out how many more or less Advancement Points each other incarnation would have. The 1st Doctor, for instance, while still better than the average starting character, is much closer to a starting Time Lord for play, while the 11th is better than his predecessor by only a bit, due to the short life span of the previous incarnation.

I took it to mean that EVERYONE who had the 10th Doctor set - REGARDLESS of where they got it from - would have access to this free download. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I agree. I bought the 10th Doctor Set version of the rules and in no way am going to buy the whole game system over just to have some pictures changed and a new adventure book. I took it that it also meant EVERYONE who had a copy of the orignal DWAITAS rules boxed set.
of course I am really looking forward to the UNIT boxed set.

Yay! Got mine as well, I like the new layout, and love the write up for the Tardis. I like the new character sheets. So basic and simple if someone wanted to play who never had before the basic rules are on the sheet! Really cool. I need to start reading the adventure book. But I cannot wait for the Time Travelers Companion!

Bought the new adventures book, downloaded the upgrade pack. I'm impressed they got that out so quickly. I hope this is the beginning of the turn-around for the Who RPG. I'll be getting the full set when I see it on the shelves of my FLGS.

All aliens now have tech levels and precise write-ups (weeping angels got fixed!) other aliens now have realistic lethality (no more puny Auton balsters), the bugged difficulty chart is fixed (no more superhuman pilots needed to fly planes in rough weather), strength is expanded upon, the layout is clear and there is an all-round greater degree of precision and professionalism about it.
I love it. Boxed set ordered. I hope this continues.

So none of the rules clarifications? I guess that's not a surprise.

I'd say it's more of a clean-up than anything. The new stuff is not what you'd call essential I guess. You can play the game without it but to be honest, the new game is so well laid out and looks fab it's not a bad thing to purchase.
Some of the changes:
-The titles of Story Point uses are more apt and less confusing
-There is a little expansion on Strength that says a person with Strength 4 can lift their own body weight, Strength 5, double their own weight etc.
-The difficulty chart examples are all series five and six-based, e.g.
Very Difficult (24): Charm your way into the White House.

My only criticism of the new look, horizontal character sheets is that with all the useful general rules info on the back, there's no room to put the explanations of what a character's Traits can do. One problem I've frequently had with systems that use a lot of traits/edges/feats ( call them what you will) - especially when power creep comes in with future supplements - is remembering what every trait does during the wild madness of game play. It's always such a mood killer to suddenly have to put the brakes on and crack open the rule book... But the whole new layout of the books, sheets etc is, overall, much tighter. I actually had no problem with the original layout and didn't think that it could be improved. But then again I guess that's why I'm not a designer...

If I have a PDF of a game, I always just copy and paste the rules for traits my character has (or the PCs have if I'm running) into a document and print it out. Saves messing around with the book.

I particularly enjoyed the long, detailed writeup on The Silence. At least, I left myself a note saying I did.

Gamemaster's Guide probably?! No. That's the second layer of the joke. Don't feel bad, I read that myself and thought 'What the... I didn't write anything about the Silence in ... oh, wait, I get it. Ha!' To reiterate, there is nothing about the Silence in the Core set. It is all strictly based off of series 5 info, hence no mention of River as a Time Lady (although I cover 'Scions of Gallifrey' in the Time Traveller's Companion'). Eventually, the 11th Doctor will get his own set to cover series 6 through whenever he leaves. Thanks for the kind words folks. A lot of work went into making this edition as professional looking and mechanically accurate as possible.
