Just an idea that needs a lot of fleshing out.
Setting: There is a place in the glaaxy where there are 25/100/1000 (take you pick) stars in a cluster. The center point should be the brightest place inthe universe, but by some natural phenomenon it is actually the darkest place in the universe, blackker than any black hole.
Why are the characters there? Either by accident or because the Time Lord just sight seeing.
The Dark Place
When the PCs leave the TARDIS it is total darkness, eyes will not adjust. (If the Players are willing) blindfold them for a few minutes and just describe as they move through the darkness. GM may have to make dexterity rolls for Players here.
The PCs are actually in the courtyard of a manor house, not that they can see it. The PCs eventually stumble up some steps and through a large doorway into a huge lobby/hall, again they cannot see anything yet.
At any point have the players roll Awareness + Presence, DC 15. GM will need to consult the character sheets.
Now ask the players, who are blindfolded still, to raise their hand if they think they made the difficulty.
Those that raise their hand AND made the roll: they may remove the blindfold.
Those that raised their hand but did not make the roll: they take 2 Resolve Damage
Those that did not raise their hand: no effect.
Ask for these rolls every few minutes until all players have removed their blindfolds. The Characters however still cannot see in a regular sense. They are actually getting Psychic images of each other and their surrounding. The images are just dull grey outlines against the darkness.
The Plot
What exactly is here can be up to you.
Persoanlly I was going to run it as a Psychic dream manifestation. First the group meet a young child. The Child says he is dreaming, but warns the group that he has nightmares.
When the Child has a nightmare he changes into a monster that will attack the group.
The group must search the house to find the sleeping child, fighinting past nightmares and puzzles.
When they find the child they find he is actually an old man. His starship crashed here 80 years ago when he was five years old, his parents killed in the crash. He has been in a comotose state for all those years, sustained and tormented by the Dark Place. the whole house is just a manifestation of his mind.
Resolving the adventure?
Any good Player ideas really.
Waking him could destroy the world they are in and put the group back in the TARDIS.
Does the old man wake up or die? Up to the GM.
Can The Time Lord do something timey-whimey to give him a life outside the Dark Place?
Maybe he dies and, a bit like Astrid, becomes psychic energy drifting through space?
