Well that is my first "Absolutely Brilliant" for this series ;D
I loved it and will have to get this one on DVD when it comes out. Request to BBC - please get Neil Gaiman to write more scripts.
DW
PS. Was it just me or did I see a crashed Constitution class starship in the opening graveyard scene???

Awesome stuff!
My only issue is how leaving the universe is suddenly not such a big deal as it was with the Tenth Doctor, who got very distressed about such business and made sure to patch up any holes in the universe that he found.

I thought Auntie and Uncle were distractingly over the top. Nephew was relatively pointless and they clearly wished they could hire Helena Bonham Carter for Idris. The ease of leaving and re-entering the universe and the ease of House to kill hundreds of what must have been incredibly stupid Time Lords was a bit vexing. But, the conversations with the TARDIS were wonderful

I thought it was great. No problem with the casting or characterisation. Would've liked the much vaunted 'seeing much more of the TARDIS' to be more than a few corridors, but good to see the Eccleston/Tennant console room again. Kit: I guess even a Time Lord is easy prey if he/she is trapped in a TARDIS that House controls, with any non-TL companions kept alive and driven mad to be recepticles for future TARDISs. Cheers Mark

I guess the difference is that when he has the chance to find one of the "good" timelords he'll make it happen. Plus there's a rift which allows passage.

That was an amazing piece of television! Easily the best episode of Matt Smith's tenure so far. The writing was solid, the acting was strong, and the sets and costumes were excellent. I just wish that we had the opportunity to see more of Idris...
Does anybody else think that the scenes with Amy and Rory in the TARDIS were intended as a subtle reference to the tendency of companions in the classic series to spend most of their time running around in corridors?

My only problem is that House killed hundred of Time Lords - I don't think that many had ever left Gallifrey. I think it more likely it had only killed a dozen or so.
I've no problem with Time Lords being killed - they aren't in any way indestructible. They're only slightly harder to kill than a human.

Well there are only about a dozen cubes in the cupboard... It's possible that House was exaggerating.
And I thought it was absolutely wonderful. It's also the first Matt Smith episode which I think only Matt's Doctor would have been able to do to full effect.

They never left Gallifrey pre-Time War, but maybe things changed when the War started up. It's possible they were either out on assignment, or maybe they left in protest once the Council started going all dark side.

A wonderful and instantly classic episode. Also some very exciting factual additions to the mythology: The TARDIS chose the Doctor; She took him where he needed to go, not where he wanted to go.

"Never" is a bit strong - there's no point having TARDISes if you never go anywhere. They could easily observe events in person without interfering, and how would the CIA do any meddling if they couldn't travel? And if they never went anywhere, how would people know who they are? And then there's battles against Great Vampires, Morbius, and others I can't remember right now.

During the era covered by the classic season, the majority of Timelords never went anywhere, but there were exceptions (the Doctor, the Master, the Rani, the Monk, the War Chief, Drax, Romana, Susan, K'anpo Rimpoche, Salyavin). As only a relatively small amount of the Doctor's life is known to us, it's not unreasonable to assume that he knows a few more that weren't revealed at the time.

I did like that set House: Fear me I've killed hundreds of Time Lords Doctor: Fear me I killed all of them!
The Doctor/Tardis conversations were worth any other problems with the episode, not that I thought there were any, just even if there were, those few conversations between Sexy and the Doctor were priceless. Gamain excelled, as always, making an old concept new again.

Now there have been some cracking episodes/stories in the new DW (Empty Child, Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, Impossible Planet) and some great old ones too (City of Death, The Sea Devils, Pyramids of Mars) so I'm going out on a limb a bit here when I say The Doctor's Wife was possibly the best ever episode of Doctor Who. I loved it that much, I really did
