I'd heard we were getting 14 eps. Now i'm hearing we are just getting specials. Anyone know anything?

I've not heard about specials. Word is that we have a full season, but for some reason Moffat and the BBC are keeping rather tightlipped.

Steven Moffat is always talking on Twitter about the series. His last entry at time of this post was this: Steven Moffat -Dr Who: "misquotes and misunderstandings. But I'm not being bounced into announcing the cool stuff before we're ready. Hush, and patience.”His Twitter page: twitter.com/steven_moffat

Basically, it seems that whatever happens, we will not be getting a full series in 2012, though there has been a series 7 commissioned.

With all the contradictory comments floating around we actually have absolutely no idea what is going on. Any speculation is therefore utterly unfounded. Therefore we shouldn't bother doing any.

But... this is an internet forum! Unfounded speculation is what we do best!

I'm holding out for official word from the Moff, but I expect great sadness.

Perhaps a move back to the traditional Autumn/Winter slot with the Christmas Special a mid-season "event"?

A bit early to start panicking I must say. Let's just wait and see, as long as they are showing it, it's good for me. Besides that, I'm rather looking forward to the new season of sherlock (and that's rather short, only 3 episodes) and the new season of Torchwood.

Wait to hear from the actual people involved, basically. All the rampant, wild speculation is getting out of hand.

Latest word via FriendFace is:
"So after the Christmas Doctor Who Special, prepare yourselves for No Doctor Who until Late Autumn 2012, But also remember, the bumper year ahead in 2013!"
So it seems we're still getting half of s7 next autumn and the other half at the beginning of 2013, with all of s8 in autumn of that year, with the usual Christmas specials in and around. And possibly an Easter special in 2012, that's what I heard.
Steven Moffat on the 2012 Series Delay:
“The truth behind the delay next year is: why are we killing ourselves and risking compromising the show, in order to go out in the middle of summer? I’m sick of it. I’m sick of standing in the blazing sunshine, with a barebecue fork in my hand, knowing that Doctor Who is coming on any minute, Six o’clock on a sunny Saturday is the middle of the afternoon, whereas six o’clock on a winter or autumn Saturday is dark and exciting”
That's all I got for now.

Latest from Moffat is that there were be at least 14 episodes next series.
It looks like a fall start, and the confusion is over if we will be getting a special or two between the Christmas special and the fall, to fill the long gap.
