This is a mini starter adventure idea for a non-role-player (my girlfriend) that I'm thinking of running. She has said she would try playing Doctor Who RPG. I've kept it rather simple, probably 1½ hours at most. The Delph creature is a homebrew monster from one of my earlier stories that she does know about, it was either that or the Hoix, but you'll have to trust me that the Delph works better. But any other ideas please say.
Player Character: Jenni
Jenny is a 25 year old human girl from modern times living a normal life.
NPCs: 8th Doctor, Sixx
I decided on the 8th Doctor as he is pretty much a clean slate to work with, Big Finish & Novels aside.
Setting: 'The Delph', Brierley Hill, England (yes, the creature is named after the place I live)
Main adversary: The Delph. This is a creature genetically engineered by the Silurians in a previous adventure. The creature has been lying relatively dormant for around 100 years, that last adventure was set in 1910.
Jenny is walking home along the canal. She knows she shouldn't be walking this way alone at night but it's the shortest route.
There is something following her! She can hear it but not see it. Let's hope she chooses to RUN! here.
Thinking she is safe she is about to leave the path when she sees a man lying on the gorund. At first she thinks he is dead but he starts to move. The man stands up, he has long wavey hair and wears a green frock coat and cravat - the 8th Doctor.
The Doctor is a bit lost for words making nonesense excuses that he was listening to the ground for vibrations (he is aware of the existance of the Delph creature).
Then the creature returns, only this time Jenni and The Doctor see it, it's the DELPH!
The Doctor grabs Jenni by the hand, "When I say run, run. RUN!"
The chase is back along the can path and they are required to jump the canal. The Doctor opens a hatch in the ground and the two jump down, The Doctor seals it keeping out the Delph.
The passage is not a sewer though, as Jenni may first expect. The Doctor explains it has been recently created by ancient Silurian technology, probably working on automatic. Jenni obviously won't know what a Silurian is.
Unfortunately the Delph has found another way in and gives chase again. The corridor splits and The Doctor and Jenni get split up. The Doctor just tells Jenni to run while he draws off the Delph.
Jenni proceeds a little before being sucked through the Earth. She finds herself tumbling into some alien computer room with organic looking controls. There is an odd looking pod in the middle of the room, it is open and empty. There is a corridor leading off. Also in the room is a silver blanket making up a makeshift bed, it is empty.
Suddently moans and groans come form the corridor and a short stocky creature with red spikey skin (a Zocci) shuffles into the room. The creature collapses.
Hopefully Jenni will try and help him. If not The Doctor turns up now rather than later.
Bannakaffasixx (Sixx), as the Zocci is called, says his ship crashed on the moon. He used the teleport pod to escape but it landed here and awoke the Delph. The transmissions of his wrecked ship are causing the Delph to go mad, it won't be long before the creature goes on a rampage, and little on Earth can harm it!
The Doctor suggests one course of action, travel to the moon and shut down the space ship. He leads Sixx and Jenni back to the surface and towards an old wooden Police box...
Usual awe and wonder.
Moments later the TARDIS has landed on the moon near the wrecked space ship - an air bubble is activated to allow them to cross to the ship.
The final scene will have The Doctor aided by Jenni shut down the space ship, but it starts to self destruct. Rush back to the TARDIS just in time... but as the TARDIS dematerialises the explosion shoots the TARDIS off into Time and Space! Jenni and Sixx may be stuck with The Doctor for a while.
