Time Lord PCs get a major gadget. Has anyone come up with anything different from the sonic screwdriver? I know Craig's Time Lord player had a sonic cane. I'm wondering if anyone has done something that deviated from the scan/transmit/open/close/weld model. I'm considering a Time Lord with a Force Field for example.

Mine had a Slate, a sort of tricorder. It's no good with locks, except in a pinch (and as long as it's electronic).

Something with Scan is a classic, of course - a game with a bit of uncomplicated investigation is helped immensely by a gadget that goes ding when there's stuff.
But for alternatives:
At one point in the Doctor Who Magazine comic strip, the Eighth Doctor made good use of a personal Chameleon Circuit for disguise and stealth.
Portable Time Lock: uses the Delete and recall system to model moving people or people-sized things out of the timestream for an hour or so.
Short-range teleport: "Line of sight" as a possible limit.
Pocket translator: for those times when you need people who don't have the TARDIS's telepathic translation effect working to understand each other. (That might be a Minor Gadget, though.)
X-Ray Specs: Alien Senses that you can put on, take off, show to other people.

In the original PbP version of The SOS Files campaign I briefly ran, one of the characters (who was secretly a junior Time Lord in hiding) had a device we deemed the Enpsychlopaedia Galactica. Put simply, it was a copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, with less of the funny. We wrote it up like this: Major Gadget - Enpsyclopaedia (+2 Knowledge (Science) ) - Photographic Memory - Slow Reflexes It basically made it more likely he would be able to come up with information on whatever weirdness was going on, but the Slow Reflexes made it so that it took a little time. So, not so handy when you're in an Action Scene and need the info Right Damn Now.
