I've been holding off of running DWAITAS until the UNIT book came out, as that keeps getting pushed back, and I have lost faith in the licence delivering anything on time, I have decided to change my original idea for a campaign, and go with Torchwood set in the 1920's.
I don't know much about Torchwood, having watched only a few episodes. From watching Dr Who I know that Victoria set them up to defend against the Alien menace, so I assume they were fairly well established in the 1920's. Are there any specifics about this period of Torchwood history I should be aware of? I'm also planning on running the game as a dark cosmic horror, Lovecraftian style game.
Any thoughts?
All the best Mike

I would check out the Torchwood series 2 episode Fragments. It involves flashbacks of how everyone became involved in Torchwood and in the flashback about Jack there is a pretty good representation of how it was in the early 1900s (at least I assume that is when it was they never give a date).
I would picture it pretty Lovecraftian. Maybe mix a bit of steampunk in there.

I believe there's some other game designed for Lovecrafian cosmic horror in the 1920s... But anyway, the closest we've seen to Torchwood in the era is a brief sequence in 1918, in To The Last Man. Torchwood was under the direct control of Queen Victoria but this may not have followed through to her heirs - it seemed autonomous by 2006, answering to Harriet Jones in The Christmas Invasion but seemingly only to itself in Army Of Ghosts. So George V may not have had a clue what Torchwood was up to.

While I like BRP well enough, I don't think it does a very good job of Cthulhu, and I think the George system will be a better fit, but time will tell. ;D Thanks for the info and the link. I may post some characters when they're done, heres the character sheet... Attachments:

My players decided that they would rather play Warhammer Fantasy, so another false start for DWAiTaS. I Think I'll give Up on the system until the UNIT set comes out.

Sorry.
Although incompetent adventurers trying to stop extradimensional threats and monsters with a lot of ribald humour could apply to Torchwood or WFRP...

I spent 2010 trying to get a DWAITAS game going at the local game club to no avail Although, somewhat perversely, there was some interest in a Torchwood 1930s game I pitched ... using HEX.

HEX is great, but that is a little odd, maybe I should pitch Dr WHO using Ubiquity! ;D
