Aren't we overdue a newsletter from Cubicle 7? The last one I received was way back on April 26th - anybody had anything since then? No, haven't had anything either. Over on the Cubicle7 forums there's a newsletter thread. Someone asked about the newsletter three days ago.... no reply. I have to say I've been having problems getting on the C7 forums in recent weeks - my browser just times out most of the time. I did notice that there was a thread in which others had posted with similar experiences.

It's a problem I've asked them about as it seems my ISP doesn't like their forum at all. Firefox, IE, XP, W7, iPadd - none of them work. They are investigating solutions, apparently.

No idea. But if they are from the Top Secret Card Game, they're hiding it in plain sight!

No idea. But if they are from the Top Secret Card Game, they're hiding it in plain sight! In plain sight is often the best place to hide. Often, not always. What else could it be? The cards for an 11th Doctor Aliens and Creatures? Doubt it, different shape and the Doctor and Amy are on the cards. Can't really make out the text on the cards. The Doctor and Amy text is too blurry. The Crack in Time and Space starts with an s: Supp? Suff? The text on the sand card starts with a F or an E, most likely an F: Fox de Gamma? Flux of Chaos? Does anyone recognize the picture?

I think the Crack card has "Support" on it, and the Gallifrey one says "End Of Time"?

Well done, Mister Harry, I thought Gallifrey at first, but then that Desert planet from the Easter Special, since the text kinda looked like "E/F O X of Swarm" to me.
"Support" seems like a good candidate. Not so sure about the "End of Time", I mean the first part "End of" could fit, but I don't really see Time.
All in all, unless this is some sort of decoy/distraction trick from Cubicle7, I think we can assume that the secret card game is some sort of Doctor Who card game. Which might make sense, since licenses for RPGs and card games are often sold together.
Does Cubicle7 have experience with card games?

Cubicle7 announced the card game today, saw it on twitter. Martin Wallace is the designer. There is a site that is already taking pre-orders for the game. (LINK) Just found the latest official card game: Doctor Who: monster invasionSince, as far as I can tell, that game is still being produced/sold, I think the Cubicle7 game will not be a Collectible Card Game -style game. We can only wait until someone who has been to the Game Expo 2012 and has seen the game comments.

If you head to gametrademagazine.com and download the pdf you can see the new covers for Defending the Earth and The Time Traveller's Companion. DtE is expected to ship in August and TTTC in July. The card game is scheduled for August as well.

Okay, that new TTTC cover looks excellent. And July? That'll make it almost exactly two years after I pre-ordered it then

I only found it because of Cigarman2k6's post on the cubicle7 forums: I agree the TTC cover looks great. BTW, Cubicle7 posted another picture on their twitter:

I have not only seen the 11th Doctor edition but held it in my hands!
C7 had a single preview copy at UK Games Expo 2012. Had a quick flick through. Looks very nice. Still going to be end of July earliest before we see it on shelves though from what I was told.

Dom has provided a quick update on the C7 forums in place of a newsletter (which has been delayed by conventions and Dom being ill). Two mentions of DWAITAS:
"Doctor Who core set should be coming ashore in the US on 4th July. It'll take a couple of weeks to get to the warehouse from there, but we'll be set up to get it out to everyone who has pre-ordered the game as soon as possible. Proofing and file-tweaking took a bit longer than anticipated, as did the actual shipping..."
"The Doctor Who supplements are in varying stages of layout. More on these soon!"

Disclaimer: I am just going by the information given on the Cubicle7 blog, here and on the Cubicle7 forums. So it is possible I missed some crucial information on twitter or facebook. First the facts: - April 26 - The last newsletter we got.
- May 17- Over on the cubicle7 forums an users asks about the newsletter.
- May 24 - C7 blogpost: they are going to the Games Expo 2012.
- May 31 - C7 blogpost: they are at the Origins game fair.
- June 16 - Jon Hodgson, art director, explains the delay and mentions that they are working on it.
- June 20 - Domfromc7 posts the update.
The reasons for the delay: conventions and illness. Those are completely understandable reasons; I can imagine that conventions are very tiring* and illness speaks for itself. But wouldn't it have been better if Cubicle7 had posted an announcement on their forums saying: "The Games Expo and Origins are coming up, it is going to be a busy time for us, so unfortunately the newsletter has to be delayed."? Maybe they were so busy, they didn't even have time to post that? They did have time to post on their blog, however.(see 1 and 2) After asking about the newsletter in April, we had to wait till June for an official answer. Probably because C7 were busy with the conventions, but was that such a surprise to them? What I want to say is that, in my opinion, it would be better for PR to tell us in advance or shortly after the "deadline" that there is going to be a delay, in other words communicate with us. I am fairly sure, considering the past comments and posts regarding delays and Cubicle7, that we would understand. Sorry for this rant. * I have never been to a rpg convention.

I suspect Dom assumed most people know Origins, GAMA and Gen-Con are large conventions which might leave little time in the office.
The main reason they take time from work is that you have to work the stand for a full day, and that only leaves the evening to catch up on the other work (if you have a decent internet connection in the hotel). Dom also has to sleep at some point. :-)
When you mention PR, I hope you are not under the misapprehention Cubicle 7 has a PR dept. :-) It is just Dom in the office!

So, do any of you live in the DFW area of Texas? I'll be getting advanced copies of the box and setting up a demo game at Madness Comics in Plano at the end of July. I'll also be showing off the pre-print version of the TTC...

This from Dom on the C7 forum:
"My best current estimate for UK shops is early August. It depends a lot on how long it takes to get from customs to the warehouse in the US."
