To quote Captain Mainwaring from Dads Army, "I think you're entering the realms of fantasy here..." ;D Depends which August you're thinking of... Hopefully not August 2013 or later...

According to this GenCon thread on RPGnet, "Eleventh Doctor will be post Gen Con--probably October. The big C7 releases at Gen Con will be The One Ring and Airship Pirates." *sigh* It's kind of getting like a bad joke. Doctor Who: The Duke Nukem Edition ;D

Doctor Who: The Duke Nukem Edition ;D I'd have likened it to the Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play 1st Ed. Realm of Sorcery. It took something like 14 years for that to be released from initial announcement!

Any news about the UNIT and Time Traveller supplements? Will they also be pushed back (to Xmas ? 2012 ? 2013 ?) ? I guess it will probably be the case (provided they're ever released), even though it would make sense to release them earlier, since there IS already an edition of the game being played (the old "David Tennant set", remember ? ;D) by real gamers (or are we "Almost People" ?) and from what we have read, the new edition of the game will not change anything to the actual rules or system... so why delay the supplements at all ?
Wouldn't it be a wise move (to keep the game alive commercially, while waiting for the pre-release of the 11th Doc edition) to release these supplements - at least in pdf, like they did for Aliens & Creatures ? Or are they bound by the terms of their license (i.e. they can't release anything before the new edition of the game) ?

One of my concerns at this point is term (length) of the license. It was probably executed in 2008 when word first came out, possibly not until 2009 when it was officially announced. Character Options' first DW license ran for 4 years. Are we halfway (or more?) through the term of the game license? Has the line done well enough to justify renewal, or will they find themselves in a situation where they have to rush releases next year?

The following reply has just be posted on the Cubicle 7 forums:
"Defending the Earth and the TTC will both be out after the new boxed set. They should follow closely on its heels, though - both are nearly complete after rewrites.
As for the core box, as soon as there's a solid release date, we'll post it here."

Without wanting to start another storm of speculation...
Dom, Angus and I were at Origins last week and Dom had most of the 11th Doctor set layout printed out (and I have to say it looks damn fine). So while it probably won't make Gen-Con it shouldn't be much longer as long as printing goes well.
There are 2 things that have held things up a little. The main one is that the Chinese printers failed a test for things like child labour. While I'm sure it was more fun for the children to print Doctor Who books than stitch trainers, C7 had to find someone else :-)
The other thing has been getting the One Ring game out, which has been time well spent. That will be available at Gen-Con and it looks gorgeous (and comes in a slip case with 2 books, dice and a poster map of the area). Now its out of the way I think Who is stepped up the priority list (not that its been on the back burner or anything though). It is a shame they can't do both for Gen-Con (although bear in mind Airship Pirates and Primeval are also in the queue) but it comes down to Dom and Angus being a little swamped. Hopefully they'll do well enough with this years releases to be able to afford to employ more help!
Defending the Earth and the TTC are still the next boxes on the list, but I don't think there is a specific date. All they've ever known is that they'll be 'after the new core set'. However, they shouldn't take as long as the core set to bring out, as we now have the right and approved templates for the 11th doctor layout.
So yes, sadly the wait will be a little longer. But if you are at Gen-Con and ask Dom nicely he may well be able to at least show you what the new edition is going to look like. We'll also be running several games of Who, as well as One Ring and Primeval as well as the old favourites too.
As always, bear in mind I'm not the official voice of C7, just a hapless freelancer sharing some closer rumors! Hope that helps.

Hello all. New member here. Are there any updates as to when we'll have a retail book version of Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor Edition. I've gone to Cubical 7's website and all I see is a pre order for the PDF version which only says summer of 2011. HELP!

All I'm going to say is that this all makes me very sad. Very sad doesn't even cover it. I hope C7 realise what reactions they are getting from players, and it's NOT a good one. C7 are angering players simply due to their handling of Doctor Who RPG. I'm sure I said it a couple of pages back but gamers can be a fickle bunch. If you don't give them what they want your game is history as they move on. I myself, huge Doctor Who fan that I am, have just spent my DW:RPG money I had put aside on some Warhammer minis instead. Sorry, can't wait, moving on. That's not moving on from here BTW, just form C7 products. I'd like to buy The One Ring when it comes out, but C7's track record of supporting Doctor Who gives me no confidence they can support Lord of the Rings. And I'm not going to buy another unsupported product from them.

Hmmm! Not happy now. I aksed a question about support to the One Ring RPG on the C7 forum, referencing C7's poor support of Doctor Who, and neither Dom or Angus have replied despite both posting in the thread. Conclusion: C7 can give no guarantee to support any of their games!

Back in the eighties I was a big fan of Fasa's Star Trek and Dr Who. Fasa never brought out all the supplements they promised for Star Trek and we waited a long time for most of the Doctor Who suport too. However Fasa's games were fine games and still are-I think C7's DWAITS game is exceptionally good for the ethos of the show so I am happy to be patient. Let's hope that although slow the process is steady

Knowing people who've worked at Wizards of the Coast and Tenacious Games both, I can say that the designers and other people who actually work on the games don't get too much say in their schedules or their priorities... I'm sure they're as eager to make more DWAITAS as you are to play it, but it can get out of their hands pretty quickly.

While it is taking longer than expected I can promise you these supplements will appear. I've seen the layout for the new 11th doctor edition after all. I've also been commissioned for more work on the line so more is in the way.
It is a pain waiting, and its a pain the guys at C7 share. Please bear with them as it is just Angus and Dom and a crowd of freelancers. In a sense, lack of communication is a good thing as it means they are spending time getting the games out rather than doing their e-mail! :-) Damn frustrating though I grant you, but at least the wait is to make sure it is done right.

Though as was mentioned a few posts earlier, one of the concerns is that C7 will have the licence for a specific time - I'm guessing somewhere between 3 and 5 years. So the longer the delays, the less material will ultimately appear. I thought they now had a Communications Manager to deal with customer communication?

I daresay it's not a cheap licence. So letting down customers... well, lets just say that the guys down my games club are starting to look upon C7 as yet another Wizards of the Coast - and that it NOT a good thing I can assure you! Doctor Who release shcedule is not the only one that has slipped, is it? Where is Shadows over Scotland? C7 are my favourite published right now, but I am now VERY upset with their lax attitude to releasing products.

C7 are my favourite published right now, but I am now VERY upset with their lax attitude to releasing products. I've never gotten the impression of a lax attitude from C7. Quite the opposite, actually. They seem to have lots of ambition, drive, and dedication. What they seem to lack is a realistic sense of their own limitations. They're basically a podunk little company that's gotten in way, way over its head with a huge list of publishing partners, too many products in the pipeline, and no sense of just how complicated a major license like Doctor Who would be. Ah, well. I just try not to get too perturbed about it. Plenty of other games out there to play. C7 does good work, when they can actually get something on the shelf. When they do, I'll buy it. Until then, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Sure as hell not trusting them with any pre-orders though.

Does anyone have any updates for us? No DW material is on Angus' GenCon release list. It now appears that the entirety of series 6 will have aired before the 11th Doctor set is available. Perhaps someone can ask them about this at GenCon.

C7 release schedule is now competing with that of Kenzerco.
C7 are focusing too much on their 'of the moment' RPGs such as Lord of the Rings and Airship Pirates. In 12 months time the LOTR players will be making similar complaints when their games support gets put to the side while C7 focus on whatever their 2012 game of the moment is.
Most RPGers in my experience (and I know plenty of RPGers from our games club & LGS) are collectors and like to follow a series. I only have to look at games played at our club to see that it is the games with support (D&D, Pathfinder, Dark Heresy) that get the most table time. And a lot of that is in part respect for the RPG company for supporting their game. Hence Doctor Who games have now disappeared from our club.
And if C7 cannot get their releases out I also fear for the licence. I've seen licences snatched away from companies for less, and by the BBC! Glittery Daleks anyone? "Oh, we didn't authorise them," YOINK! If C7 have committed to a release schedule and don't stick to it - YOINK!

Well, being back from gencon nothing was officially announced, though I know that its all layed out in pdf and the next two books are being payed out once the dust has cleared from gencon, I do now that BBC is causing some delays for the other books such as the Unit Guide and the TIme travellers Companion since they want all the layouts changed to Matt Smith and the new logos. I have seen the new characters sheets for Amy, Rory, The Doctor and River Song, along with the new generic sheets and they look very good and are very awesome, some neat other surprises for characters too but that would be spoilers

Hmm, not sure that this can still be used as an excuse as the need to rebrand these has been known about for well over a year now.
