.....very cold/just business-like reply.... doesn’t "feel" like it will be good news. With C7's track record on this product line, I doubt it will be. But you never know, we might be pleasantly surprised. Fingers crossed!

Yeah, and this was the further reply...
If they're "approaching the subject with a level of professionalism", I think they've about to drop a bombshell. When I do that, I've looked at the facts and have to explain exactly how far up that creek we are and just where we left the paddle.

So have they said when this release schedule will be posted for public viewing?

So have they said when this release schedule will be posted for public viewing? Neil only said "this week". We shall soon find out, presumably ...

Damn it. Is it just me, or are the C7 forums (cubicle7.clicdev.com) also now playing up? I'm getting all sorts of timeouts and 'server did not respond in time' type messages from Firefox ...

I love Cubicle 7, they release some great games - I bought The Laundry and Hellcats & Hockeysticks just this week. And I appreciate that they have realsed lots of books int he last 12 months - but I wish they would release DOCTOR WHO! But then there has been no news on Lord of the Rings either since the announcement they have the licence. Come on Cubicle 7, we love you, give some love back.

Seems to be back now, thankfully Yup. They've been moving domains or suchlike and the host company have badly screwed up so the website is still down. But the forum should be fine.

Do we now have delays to the release of an announcement about delays to the release of the product? My brain hurts...

*sigh* I would imagine the lack of an active website is delaying the announcement, yes? So complaints about the delay would be pointless, hmm?

*sigh* I would imagine the lack of an active website is delaying the announcement, yes? So complaints about the delay would be pointless, hmm? Oh, come on. Their website, according to their own comments, is effectively stuck in DNS limbo. It's not like they're too busy entering the code of their new site by hand, word for word, to come up with a proper release - they're waiting for their service provider to sort technical things out. They still have their forums, they still have access to their facebook page, their twitter feed, this site, rpg.net ... there is absolutely nothing stopping them from getting the word out even without an active site. They may have perfectly legitimate reasons for the delay - in fact I'm sure they do as I'm sure they're not just sitting around sipping cocktails and chortling 'Let the peons wait, mwahahahaha!' - but 'we don't have a website, waaaahhh' is not it. It's still perfectly possible for the word to be spread, even with www.cubicle-7.com still down. And, frankly, I'm not so sure complaints about delays from C7 are pointless. It seems the only way to get anything from C7 these days is to be the squeaky wheel.

Perhaps. But wouldn't they want to make their announcement on their primary news location i.e. the website before it goes on all the secondary locations? Or all at the same time? I don't think anyone outside this forum even knows a) the forum exists, and b) that an announcement is forthcoming.

I don't think anyone outside this forum even knows a) the forum exists, and b) that an announcement is forthcoming. I'm not convinced their main site IS their main news site when it comes to Doctor Who. In the past, wheneve we've managed to wheedle a comment out of C7 on the cause for the most recent delays, it's nearly always been buried in the general forum. Of course, if this announcement also coverd other lines (anyone sensing less than good news already?) that may be a reason. The fact remains, however, that we were told a release was being prepared for this week. So far, with remaining time rapidly burning away, that release shows no sign of putting an appearance in. So far, despite it being at least semi-plausible, the lack of site has not been offered as an excuse. Personally, I strongly suspect we're going to experience yet another delay - this time not on the product, but on the press release saying there's going to be a delay. Delay squared, if you like. I'm sure, at some point, we'll encounter delay cubed.

Cubicle 7's announcements of release schedules so far this year have been in their Forum rather than the main site. I don't see why the same wouldn't apply to this announcement, whatever it turns out to be.

Do we now have delays to the release of an announcement about delays to the release of the product? The latest from NF on the C7 forum strongly suggests that the answer is ... Yes. Yes, we do.

Perhaps they're just being topical?
After all, isn't the next season of Doctor Who all about 'The Silence'?

An interesting few posts that essentially say 'sorry we're late' without any 'news' or anything concrete at all. Although I appreciate the sentiments, a line like DWAITAS will never make it big with all these delays. They really are shooting themselves in the foot sadly. And I didn't see the Silence gag earlier...

Well, at least we now know that an April release for the 11th Doctor edition isn't going to happen, as C7 have only just identified a printer for it. So realistically, it will be a few more months yet.

So realistically, it will be a few more months yet. I wonder if their update/mea culpa would have been forthcoming if I (or anybody else) hadn't started pressing for an update ... 'cos I've got to say, although my main problem with them is communication ... It's the middle of April, the product hasn't even hit the printers yet and so they must have known for quite some time it wouldn't be an April release ... yet they remained absolutely silent on the matter and kept April up on their online store. That's not good practice, imho.

So I would say August is a realistic time to expect it - due to printer turn around, distribution and shipping etc..
Just in time for the second half of the 2011 season then?

So I would say August is a realistic time to expect it - due to printer turn around, distribution and shipping etc.. Just in time for the second half of the 2011 season then? That's a good question. I don't know what the typical delay is from sending to printers to hitting the streets ... By the time you figure in possible printing delays, shipping by sea (cheaper than air), possible shipping delays, delays in customs ... well, it might not be pretty. edited to add: Dom's post in the thread: So, he's presumably talking about releasing the box set, the GM screen, Defending the Earth, and The Time Traveller's Companion, in essentially 4 months. On past performance that'd be damn near miraculous, but even if some kinks in the process have been ironed out I can't help wondering if that's still not a tad ambitious.

I know that the big goal is to get the physical boxes into WHSmith, Argos and other bricks-and-mortar mass-market shops. And I applaud that, I really do. I'm sick of seeing the same sad collection of D&D4E books going dusty on the shelves in Waterstones. The day I see the Dr Who RPG on sale in my local Tescos will be the day I know they've got it made. In the meantime, however, you don't need a printer to release a PDF.

In the meantime, however, you don't need a printer to release a PDF. That's true, you don't. But, if it hadn't already been planned, I'd imagine you'd want to think carefully about releasing a PDF of your product months in advance ... I know they did it for A&C, but I don't know if C7 ever mentioned whether they felt releasing the PDF early impacted on their physical sales positively or negatively.

Ow damnation. I was so looking forward to receiving a GM screen for doctor who. I preordered the thing now as it seems I will have to wait a couple of months for it. Is it so hard to get things published?
I ordered it in pre order with my local gaming store together with a couple of other items but it didn't came in. I better tell her to contact her dealer on how it is going so that she at least gets the other stuff. I also ordered a COC book with that dealer.
