Forbidden Planet Liverpool got theirs today - 4 copies.
Must say, the game is an absolute work of art. Gorgeous books & components, lovely weighty feel to the box.
After a quick skim-through of the books, it's already apparent that what could so easily have been a shoddy 'fast buck generator' from another company is a true labour of love.
I hope the support for this game runs and runs!
Good job, everyone involved!

Allright i am a long time fan of dr who (25 years!) I have the fasa game and bought Timelord when it first came out and I must say cubicle 7 have out done themselves!!!Great format easy to follow rules and it has that fasa feel to it, and they put in timelord generation rules I am very, very pleased with this product. My only complaint is not enough villain templates and we need some classic series material as well but very well done!

My copy arrived at my FLGS yesterday and I've had a good read of it now. Perhaps a little too simple in the rules but I can live with that. The only thing I found missing was a workable experience system. As it stands the experience rules are too arbitary and for an extended campaign I can see players getting frustrated. I'm going to have to work on that.
Otherwise I love the look and feel of the books, and there are just enough old Who references to keep the continunity feel going.

Leisure Games of London, The only downer so far is that the cover of the GM's guide has bubbles under the laminate. Charlie Bananas - if you drop me a line on angus@cubicle7.co.uk with your address I'll replace the GM's Guide for you. I've not heard or seen this issue elsewhere so very sorry that your set had the problem. Best wishes, Angus C7 HQ

My copy has now arrived - although it'll be a couple of weeks before I get to look at it as my wife is busy wrapping it up for Christmas :-)

Looks as good as any official BBC books product and it's the same official sleek style as BBC books like the 'Ultimate Aliens & Monsters Guide'.
Appears to be a cutting-edge streamlined RPG system, very well formatted and presented and a pleasure to read.
Now to get reading...

Mine arrived this afternoon - postie accidentally teasing me by delivering a load of post then going away only to return an hour later having found a box for me in his van from Leisure Games!
The game looks stunning; I've flicked through everything but must try to focus and read it all cover-to-cover. The production standards are incredible and I hope will continue in all future products.
This is definitely going to be a winner!

Yeah I can't agree more, The GM's guide I can live with its the Players Book that worries me, as it looks like the pages could start to come loose, but it looks like it will be taken care of, I've just been unlucky. I hope that I've had all the bad luck for the rest of you guys!

Enjoying the read immensely. Just enjoyed reading the TARDIS guide part. Awesome. Describes what is feels like to ride in a TARDIS. I suspect there a lot of inside info here from the BBC.
Also, could someone have bloody well told me Nathaniel Torson was writing for the game before I mailed him over a week ago telling him about the 'cool new game' and making me look like a complete burk.

Where did you order it from Charlie? Leisure Games of London, The only downer so far is that the cover of the GM's guide has bubbles under the laminate. My 2nd copy, from Leisure Games, arrived today (still waiting on #3, from C7) and it has no bubbles. I guess it can't be a bad batch - looks like you were just really unlucky, Charlie.

Hmm, well at least now I know I'm not the only one still waiting for my pre-order from C7. Does anyone know if I should have got an e-mail from them saying if it had been dispatched? This is my first time ordering from C7, so I don't know how they usually deal with stuff.

Yeah I know it's just bad luck, and I'm glad it's not a widespread problem, as the game just oozes love of Who! It's not the Bubbles in the GM guide thats the real problem as they are small covering about an 1" maybe a bit more, and won't effect the wear of the book, the real problem is the tear in the Players book as this looks like it may cause the pages to come loose. But Angus has said he will fix the problem for me and that shows that C7 not only loves Who but cares about us aswell! ;D

I'm well into the Player's Guide now - absolutely wonderful. I love some of the Traits, hope there's more to come in some of the supplements.
Things I love:
- the Regeneration rules, especially the random appearance generator table!
- the section on TARDIS operation. Fascinating reading by itself!
- 'Jiggery Pokery', so true to the TV series.
My only complaint is the lack of any real experience system, but as the rules seem to be a slightly altered and stripped-down (and more elegant) version of the excellent 'Cortex' system, I may try using their experience system (which actually eludes me for the moment, but I remember our group really liking it!).

Um ... really? If anything, I'd have pegged them a lot closer to a variant of Cinematic Unisystem (and consider the designer ) What makes you think Cortex, in particular? btw, what I like about the rules is that a timelord isn't really all that unbalancing compared to other characters.

They all liked the Who rules and described Who as "Cinematic Unisystem 2.0"

This is actually a positive thing for me. Character's don't get more powerful in Who (or in real life for that matter). I'd rather have some kind of story point system, where players earn the ability to self narrate dramatic points, or develop their characters (as in the non-RPG definition of character development).

Well ... an experience system doesn't necessarily mean more "powerful" per se. Characters certainly grow ... Rose Tyler. From shop girl to Defender of the Earth. The now immortal Jack Harkness. Martha Jones. From student doctor to world-travelling saviour of us all to UNIT medical advisor. Mickey Smith. From car mechanic to revolutionary to ... what? Well, maybe season 4 of Torchwood, who knows? Donna Noble. From super-temp to one of the best companions ever (imho) via substantial character growth and, of course, the Doctor-Donna. And she saved the universe from a particularly unpleasant timeline in Turn Left. Sarah Jane Smith. From journalist to another defender of the Earth ... and mum to a genetically-engineered super-genius. Even K9 was rebuilt and improved. I reckon they've all had the benefit of an experience system somewhere

Never played Unisystem, know absolutely nothing about it, I'm afraid! Cortex uses the same 'Attribute + Skill + dice roll and roll higher than a diff number' system. It uses pretty much exactly the same type of Trait system (minor / major traits). It uses Story Points, with basically the same effects as Plot Points. Basically, it's Exactly The Same System (when I was telling my mates about the Who RPG, they all thought, 'Ahh, Cortex!'. In fact, one of my mates described the Who RPG as looking like a Cortex supplement! Not a bad thing, by the way...). It sounds like Cortex may be ripping off Unisystem, though... the only thing I know about Unisystem is that it's been around a hell of a lot longer than Cortex!

I don't think either Cortex or Unisystem are ripping off anybody. The "stat + Skill+dice roll to beat a target number" thing has been around for a long time in many different games. I am glad that the designer decided to keep the game simple and easy to learn, and didn't try to reinvent the wheel just for the sake of being "different". Cortex, by the admission of its own designers, owes a lot to Alternity. Savage Worlds resembles Cortex in some ways. Unisystem has things in common with GURPS. It's all good Allen

Cortex and DW:AITAS and Cinematic Unisystem all use an attribute plus skill plus dice mechanic, true. But in Cinematic Unisystem and DW:AITAS these are static numbers plus dice whereas, IIRC, Cortex has attributes and skills that arent static but are something of a poll through dice ranges. You may have D6 Strength and d8 guns for example in Cortex.
