The Trait 'Run for Your Life' adds +1 to speed in a chase situation, but costs the same as a point of coordination (which is the same an improving your speed by one).
Does 'Run for Your Life' do something else I have missed, or is it just a suboptimal choice if your coordination is not maxed?

I think you're right - you get more benefit from buying a point of Coordination. But if you don't want your character to be particularly Coordinated (they're not a gymnast or whatever) but you still want them to be able to put on a burst of speed, then the trait may be more suitable from the point of view of being true to the spirit of the character you're creating. If that's not a factor, then go for the Coordination.

A simple fix would be to boost RFYL to +2, as +2 in some circumstances is pretty common for Good Traits.

A +2 boost on raw Speed does sound a bit massive, however... (given the low granularity of the system). How about the following bonuses: +1 Speed (as per the rules) AND +2 bonus to all Coordination+Athletics rolls made during a chase to run faster ?
