This is not a spoof but a genuine question.
Whenever I open the books I get a bitter taste in my mouth and I'm assuming that it is from the inks used.
I also get this bitterness from the Icons RPG from Cubicle 7 and no other sources. Just these two games: Dwaitas and Icons.
Does anyone else notice this? Particularly non-smokers?

I've not opened them much, as I run an online I generally just check my PDFs. I did notice a new book when opening them - they are chock full of glossy images so there may be ink drying issues.
You could try propping the pages open and leaving the book in a ventilated room overnight to reduce any smell - or possibly putting them near an air conditioner or any other device that reduces moisture content in the air.

I've had my box set for about 10 months now so the effect may have faded, but I've not noticed anything like this. I'll see if I smell/taste anything odd when Aliens & Creatures arrives. Maybe you're particularly sensitive to something in the inks that Cubicle 7 uses?

I wouldn't say "bitter" is a precise description, but I might know what you mean. Products such as this that use a lot of ink definitely have a strong smell. That can translate into taste slightly, depending on your wiring and how much you stick your nose in the book and snort it. Relevant question: do you get the same effect from a freshly printed page of artwork from an inkjet printer? To me, the smells of both are close (though not identical). I know you said you didn't get it from any other sources, but I want to double check. Also, do you have any degree of synaesthesia? Rare, but it exists.

I can't say that I have experienced this but then, I like the smell of freshly printed ink/pages.

To answer your questions -I don't have Synaesthesia. I only have to place the unopened book near to me, on a desk or a few feet away and I get the bitter taste. I stress that its with no other new books or printed material, only those two books (DWAITAS and Icons). I can get up close to a printed document with no other effects.
I may be sensitive to something in the ink they use and my sense of smell has always been acute. I was checking in case anyone else could confirm. I guess its just my stupid nose after all.

I don't get a bitter taste, but I do get the strong smell of a new book. Kinda like that "new car smell"...but with books. Like someone else suggested, I would leave the book standing upright, with the pages splayed open to air them out, if you can manage it.

I noticed an odd smell with new Pathfinder books. Kind of a not-good new smell. Nothing with any other books, though.

Some books do have a distinctive smell to them. Sometimes it is the paper stock used, sometimes it is the inks used, sometimes it is both. Maybe your sense of smell is particularly acute, at least to these inks or paper?
