Her previous credit on Primeval may be a bit more relevant.

Why are all the UNIT officers we see Colonels?

The rank of Brigadier is a big pair of shoes to fill.

Although there has been more than one.

Why are all the UNIT officers we see Colonels? We don't. We've seen Captain Erisa Magambo at least twice.

Plus there's sergeant Benton and captain Yates.

Why are all the UNIT officers we see Colonels? Although it's not completely unknown, it's rare to have anyone above colonel anywhere near the front lines.

Plus there's sergeant Benton and captain Yates. I wasn't really talking about the old days... I was thinking more of colonel's Mace and Oduya, who set the trend in my head. And I forgot Magambo was a captain. But it does still seem like they're all colonels

Colonel is a nice rank. More actioney than a general, less little than a captain.
Is that really a suitable hair-cut for someone on active duty, btw? The intelligence officer in Children of Earth seemed one of the most convincing military women I've seen in Who cannon.

Watched the episode on BBCi. Won't discus spoilers here but Jo Grant (Jones) was adorable although Matt Smith seemed to have had his manic persona toned down to his detriment. All in all it was a fun story worth a watch.

All in all it was a fun story worth a watch. I've never really watched SJA other than a brief ten minutes just to get a feel for it. But I watched this one for the Doctor tie-in. Agreed - Jo Grant was great. I never liked her much in Doctor Who as she mostly seemed a bit of a dippy girl (much preferred Liz Shaw's competence and willingness to stand up to the Doctor), though she did get better. But older Jo Grant is absolutely loveable. I'm pretty sure it's not a spoiler to say I liked her line: "I knew he could change, but not into a baby!"

I really enjoyed the two episodes. They were fun and chock full of Who references.
