High concept- Five seemingly random blokes from throughout Earth's history are brought together, transported through a door, into the 24th century on The planet Rigel IV. However, something from their past binds them, but they are unaware of this past, because they have all been chameleon arched.
Tone - torchwood meets lost.
Timeline (Gallifrey time) - set before the doctor was born, in the time before the time lords outlawed meddling with other races and timelines.
Characters
Marvin Mehlville - 1920s inventor. So focused on his projects, he barely notices the woman pining door his affections.
Daisuke Murakami - Japanese samurai. Practitioner of the ways of Bushido. He lost his wife and child in a enemy clan's raid, and continues to struggle with their loss.
Hank Myer - Young Torchwood operative from modern day. He is an expert investigator and scholar of alien technology. He recently sold out his team for a cure fir his mother's cancer. His commander was killed in the altercation, and Hank is unsure of what happened to one of his female collegues who was grazed on the should when trying to escape.
Unnamed doctor of the 22nd century - no backstory yet.
Unnamed bishop of the Ministry of defense circa 43rd century (like the soldier group in 'flesh and stone') - bishop made rank through a bloody battle that left him a guilty hero. He can't come to grips with leaving private Terrance McFadden behind.
Goal - figure out why they are together, and find the pieces of the puzzle of their pasts.
Technology trope - in this era of time lord technology, the chameleon arch functions in multiple pieces (think of it like a bunch of memory horcruxes) instead of a single device (the storage capacity of a single arch can't hold an entire consciousness - got to wait for terrabyte storage for that). As the characters continue on their journey, they will find the pieces of their chameleon arches, and piece together their true memories
