Okay, here's another idea for a new trait, borrowed (of course) from Coretex's SerenityRPG.
Weak stomach (minor) - You cannot stand the sight of blood, guts, corpses and the like. When encountering such a sight (such as a murder scene or an accident where there are visibly injured/mutilated people), your rolls will be at -2 until either are removed from the sight that makes your stomach churn or the sight is removed from you (e.g. the body is removed.)
A particularly nasty scene may cause you to become non-functional [blacking out or staring off into the distance, but not necessarily fainting] (such as a mass casualty incident) unless you make a Determination + Awareness roll each turn. (Optionally, after 3-5 successful ones for that incident, you no longer have to make the rolls for that incident, as you manage to continue functioning on sheer willpower.)
Your first aid skill will probably be compromised in situations where you have to attend to any wounds more messy than an insect bite. Furthermore the presence of undead-like creatures (rotting zombies, etc.) may cause you discomfort as well. It may also ruin your appetite.
What do you guys think? I'd call it a minor negative trait. The penalty is -2 and only applies in certain circumstances.
The GM should allow PCs the option to buy it off after sufficient exposure to gore, corpses, etc. If you work in health-care or EMS, chances are, you probably already have developed or will develop resistance to the effects of this. Other people that might have strong resistance to this would be soldiers who are combat veterans, police officers who have investigated violent crime scenes, auto wrecks, etc.
I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions you might have on this.
