Hello.
We are a fairly novice group to DWAITAS. My players (all boffin) want to build a device which jams the signal the Nestene sends out to the plastic Autons.
I know the Doctor used his screw driver to cut off the signal from a plastic arm (which I figured costs a story point from the screw driver), so I know it's possible. I don't really want to give them a device which cuts the signal to a larger area for any real length of time, but I want to encourage their creativity and reward their hard spent character points (having all chose boffin).
I can muddle through this. My ideas:
I figure I'll evoke some permutation of the above drawbacks, depending on exactly what they describe as their goal.
One of the players is an ex Time Agent with specialised knowledge of Alien cultures. (the other's are out of their league). I'm thinking of requiring an ingenuity + knowledge (or science) roll to even set them on the right track (the jiggery-pokery is needed to make the device, but the prerequisite roll may be required for them to even properly conceive it).
I'm sure we'll manage, but if any more experienced players out there have any tips, I'd love to hear them. We're playing later today, so a quick but vague tip will be more useful than detailed advise that comes too late. The latter would still be useful, as posterity will help me learn from the experience.
Thanks a lot!

I can muddle through this. My ideas:
- A device which only affects one plastic entity at a time.
- A limited duration of the effect.
- A device which doesn't entirely block the signal, but weakens it (reducing the stats of the Autons, or helping Alan Monroe "find himself".
- A device which will short out after a few uses, depending on dice.
I figure I'll evoke some permutation of the above drawbacks, depending on exactly what they describe as their goal.
