As some might know, I'm about to start running an Omega-based campaign (which I may write up here as we progress). One of my 'villains' is an original creation inspired by The Flood from the Halo video games.
This alien creature is plant-like and has a Queen which appears to be a mass of tendrils which converses through a series of venus fly-traps protruding at various points. The Queen deposits her seeds into the throats of victims creating drones as the plants grow quickly throughout the victims' bodies before thin red vines creep out of nostrils and wrap themselves around the host's head, limbs and torso.
The head of the plant (a crimson venus fly-trap) grows within the throat of the host and can protrude out of the mouth to either converse or deposit more seeds in other hosts.
The Queen and its drones feed upon sources of electricity which is why they are attracted to human hosts due to the electricity generated by their brains. Due to this siphoning of electrity, they are also able to generate electrical charges (the drones have a minimal charge whilst the Queen is capable of much larger charges).
The only problem is that i'm stuck for a name as to what to call this thing. Any suggestions i can steal?

I know they used the same name in Torchwood, but The Pulse would seem the obvious choice! Pulse has associations with electricity, circulation and seeds... so The Pulse - as a name for the alien race - seems entirely appropriate.

As a GM The Chloravore or The Vine would work for me.

They could call themselves the Dionaens... Dionaea being the Family name of the venus flytrap. Or, give it a genuinely Latin sounding name ... Dionaea Regina or Queen Flytrap...

Hullo, Little Blue Box, While I've never played The Flood or any of the other Halo Games, I've got a similar beastie for my campaign that I've worked on, which is going to be appearing in "The Spores of Death" and "The Phoenix Murders" very shortly. Since the Venus Fly Trap's scientific name is Dionaea muscipula, I called the beasties in my campaign the Dionae. How's that?

All good suggestions. I'm going to have to think about this (and I'll award karma to whoever i chose!)
Would you say that 'water' is an invalid weakness for this creature (I was initially thinking due to the electrical element) as I've set them up to live within hosts (and humans, in particular, are made up of 60%-70% water...)?

I would suggest The Grove (as in a grove of trees) or The Seeders as that's what they appear to do. You could expand upon that by adding a location or title to those.

If you're looking for a similar title, how about something like The Rush or the Frenzy?

Add extra richness to any of these fine suggestions by preceding or following it with a place or person of orgin. E.g.
The Terceran Seeders. Mozambian Vines Kaleen's Forest. The Seeders of the Third.
Then you have hooks into their origins or things the players can pursue. "Have I heard of the planet Mozaam?", "Who was Kaleen, did they discover or create these things and - are they still around?"
Just a thought.

Water as a weakness could still work if you limit it to the relatively pure stuff found in taps, lakes and seas rather than the mixed-in-with-1001-other-compounds stuff found inside organic lifeforms. We may be 60 to 70% water, but most of it is trapped inside our cells or saturated with stuff dissolved in it which makes it almost unrecognisable.

Salt water is another possiblity for a weakness. Plants don't like salt. And the surrgestions based on the family name for the fly trap (Dionaens and Dionae) remind me of diodes. Which means they work with both the plant thing and the electricity thing.
