Hello all!
Just got my copy in the mail yesterday and it looks wonderful. I understand the rules so far, but there's one thing I'm not sure of. For a few rolls, it mentions making them with two Attributes. For example, fear rolls use the monster's Resolve and Presence and opposed by the hero's Resolve and Ingenuity. Does this mean I roll 2d6+Resolve+Presence vs 2d6+Resolve+Ingenuity?

Hullo, Seeker, Welcome to the DW: AiTaS RPG forums! Always great to see a new face around here, and someone else that can share the joy of the new rpg with us. And enjoy Doctor Who, of course! Yes. This means that you. as GM, roll the monster's Resolve and Presence.and 2D6 + the Fear Factor modifier given. The player who's opposing the creature's roll makes the roll of Resolve and Ingenuity and 2d6. You just forgot the Fear Factor value itself.

Just to clarify. Hero sees scary monster with Fear Factor. GM rolls 2d6+Resolve+Presence+Fear Factor. Player rolls 2d6+Resolve+Ingenuity.
The main point of contention for me is the word "and." Normally the rulebook uses the word "with," such as "roll Ingenuity with Technology when fixing things." Using a different word seems like it should mean something different.
Though I'm probably just reading into things too much.

Most of the Skill roll examples that I've read in the book use the term "and" rather than "with". That said, in this case, you have the example right above. It's all just semantics.

I have to admit I had to go back and re-read a bit around the Basic Rule, because as you read the rules the number of times Attribute + ATTRIBUTE rather than Attribute + SKILL creeps in worried me. I thought I'd missed something, because it seems a little incongruous to me as they're not especially interchangeable.
However, p34 of the GM Guide confirms the principle - if you can't find a suitable Skill substitute an Attribute.
Importantly, if you CAN find a suitable Skill and a character or NPC doesn't have it, they're acting Unskilled and should suffer for it. You can't improvise with an Attribute if you lack the Skill - unless the character puts up a solid case for it or uses a Story Point or two to give them the one off ability to do something.
