So a little idea that popped into my head as a result of discussion's elsewhere and reminders of an old story.
SETTING
A young man has gone missing and the party are mysteriously contacted to help find him unaware of the rabbit hole they are about to start down.
DRAMATIS PERSONAE
Michael Kent
A self-made business man orphaned during WW2 who grew up at an American base in Japan, married a local girl and is concerned over his son's recent dissapearance. Doesn't trust the party especially as no one know's who contacted them but is unwilling to turn away any help that may help him find his missing son.
Midori Kent
A Japanese woman orphaned during WW2 who grew up feeling an unusual connection to the young boy being raised at the nearby army base eventually marrying him. Desperately worried about her missing son and will take any help in finding him.
Ito Kent
An orphan boy found in the local forest who was adopted by a local couple Michael and Midori Kent. He recently celebrated his 24th birthday before going missing.
THE SETTING
As the party investigates the dissapearance they will find temporal traces indicating whatever happened to Ito it involves time travel. However before they can do anything about this Michael Kent also dissapears. Invistigating this indicates not only temporal energy but timelord regenerative energy suggesting a timelord survived the time war and was involved in their dissapearances.
THE TWIST
The reality of events is that at the height of the last great time war a Timelord broke and decided to runaway using a chameleon arch they transformed themselves into a young boy, a young human body hiding on earth where they were adopted by local couple Michael and Midori Kent. However they had no desire to remain a lesser species their entire lives so they set up their tardis to when the war was won it would set in motion a sequence of events to get them to reopen the chameleon arch and restore themselves. However due to the nature of the time war the events were knocked askew and rather than being restored they wound up losing their memories, being sent back in time and regressed to a child. Where due to differing circumstances they grew up to be a different person Michael kent.
When Michael dissapeared it was a second attempt to restore him however due to his increasing difference from the arch's template it went wrong triggering a regeneration and his winding up in the past as a girl who's look matched the locals. She due to the very different circumstances of being female grew up to become Midori Koto, later Kent when she married her past self.
The party after finding this out has to not only figure out how to break it to Midori she used to be both her husband and adoptive son and is also one of the last members of a nearly extinct race but also prevent her TARDIS from making a third attempt to restore its operator, an attempt pre-destined for failure as she is very different from the template the arch stores
