I noticed in the time lord trait that it say's they get a gadget and TARDIS which "The Gamemaster will decide if they have access to a TARDIS or not – there is no additional cost for this as it may be essential to the Gamemaster’s plans for the story." Now obviously you can just expand this to other areas "You have a SCION of Gallifrey, you get a TARDIS for blah blah as I need you to have it for story reasons" or "You find an old battered leather strap with a device inside, as your playing with it your suddenly transported back to 1148 AD because story."
What I'm wondering is would you make the player pay for it and if so does it become theirs? That is you give them a TARDIS/time ring/vortex manipulator/x for the campaign then take it off them because it was never theirs (or have it break down in a specific time period) fine however if they've paid a story point cost to have it then taking it off them seems pretty harsh even if you give them the points back.
For the sake of argument say you have 5 players and you want to send them barreling through time and space on a wild adventure would you just give them a TARDIS or similar to do so at no cost? Would you have them pay the cost if its for an adventure/season/campaign/indefinate? Would you make them pay if one was playing a timelord/scion/time agent/X? Would you give them the option of an obsolete one and have them pay the story point cost if they want a modern/advanced one? and so on.
Basically I'm just trying to get a handle on where the line would/should be between you get cool mcguffin for a time and you purchase cool device for your character.
