This scenario seed is intended for a more mature gaming group with a time travel method that's unreliable or random.
Dramatic Personel.
Captain Ahab
A white haired, grizzled older man placed in charge of the Kingfisher who is generally friendly and reasonable unless someone makes a joke about his name which cna provoke a rant on the subject.
Engineer Talos
A non-human (alien race of your choice) in charge of maintaining the Kingfisher and its systems and the main driving force behind the development of many of them including the vitally important gravity shielding to keep the pressure managable longer than any purely physical system could do.
Dr Bicardo
A younger man with degrees in psychology and medicine.
Scenario
The Kingfisher is a multi-species endeavour to explore a waterworld designed with mobility, enhanced sensor eqiupment and experiemental technology to withstand the immense pressures of the underwater environment its a first generation concept testing ideas with the long term goal to explore the ocean depths where pressure is so great its compressed the water into Ice VII. This planet was selected as its a world with no landmass just water surrounding the planets core.
Shortly after the part arrive a deep sea lifeform attacks and damages the Kingfisher causing severe damage, killing most of the crew and leaving a small part still habitable. The problem is that this section is still damaged so its only a matter of whether the pressure grows beyond its design tolerance crushing it or the damage causes it to fall apart before hand. Either way there is no way to save the last survivors of the attack listed above except . . .
The party's vessel (TARDIS, Vortex Manipulator, Other) is intact and on the surviving piece of the Kingfisher what's more the survivors are intellgient scientists who know they are not part of the crew, had to have come aboard recently after the Kingfisher was below the depth of any other known craft to reach and thus almost certainly have a means of rescuing them.
The players however can easily tell (knowledge history, check of computer records) that the Kingfisher was officially lost with all hands and what's more that the disaster set back research work in that field by generations especially since Dr Talos had made several adjustments to the gravity shielding after arrival on the planet that were lost with him.
This is the party's Dilemma if history is to unfold as recorded then all 3 surviving crew must be left to die, they can rescue the captain and doctor with minimal disruption to history but if they save the engineer then history will be changed as he is one of those individuals who can shape the developmetn of multiple species because of who he is and when he is.
