That annoyingly smart, handsome achiever who turns up in lots of dramas that we're not really supposed to like as he is invariably better and more successful at everything than the actual protagonist, e.g. Neil from The Office.
PERSONAL GOAL: To do a good job and get to the top of the career ladder.
DESCRIPTION: Good-looking and extremely sociable, but indifferent to how much envy he inspires in people who could be as successful as he is but aren’t.
BACKGROUND: He mostly likely had an upper middle-class upbringing and parents with high expectations. He buckled down at school and university, played sports when he wasn’t studying, made it all look effortless and is now on an upwards career trajectory in a good white-collar job thanks to his assertive but easygoing manner and can-do attitude. He gets on best with like-minded go-getters and is also very good at impressing people who are useful to him, and while he can be perfectly agreeable to everyone else he does not have a lot of time for them. Quite how he would get involved in anything like time travel is anyone's guess, as he would not go seeking it out and someone like the Doctor certainly would not have him in the TARDIS any longer than absolutely necessary.
