Evening all, Grinch here. Or as I was once known toymaker66.
Apologies if anyone has missed me, I'm afraid I decided to leave after one of my players (or as he might be better known as Janus the Catkind Scientist) passed away from medical complications. He will sadly be missed. With his blessing, however we have decided to carry on the campaign with a new player and a new PC, whilst getting a chance to play one final session with Janus to send him off. Introducing.... Clive! The conspiracy theorist played by the lovable Mark Benton from the first episode of the revived series 'Rose' But, what's this? He died, didn't he? How odd....
Here is the plan for the new series of our tabletop campaign.
#1. 'Clive'
After what should have been a routine trip in the TARDIS to dispose of Janus' ashes. (He having sacrificed himself to destroy an alien virus) Mortimus and the crew find themselves in the year 2005 in the heart of London where the Auton invasion is in full swing. Determined not to interfere in the fabric of time and wishing to mourn his dearly departed friend, Mortimus just wants to get back into his TARDIS. Unfortunately, something has locked him out. Something that desperately wants him and his crew to be here, something that needs him to be here.
Villains: Nestene Consciousness, The Autons
#2. 'The Happiest Place on Earth'
With new companion Clive, Mortimus decides to let his crew have a break. And where better than the happiest place on Earth? Disneyland in the year 1960. However, things aren't all they seem in the House of Mouse. Rides are malfunctioning, the lights flicker and change in a strange pattern and the Park Mascots and Ride Animatronics seem..... off. What happens to those children who do not wish to behave? Those unhappy children? And just what lurks deep within the Castle?
Villain: Jeggorabax Energy Entity. One that specifically feeds on happiness. It attacks and takes those who are unhappy. It needs happiness to keep itself sustained and strong.
#3. 'The Silver Screen'
1999. And the fabled and legendary Hollywood Studios 'Eagle Productions' is finally closing after 75 years of service. To commemorate the event, the remaining and surviving cast of the studios most famous movie serial 'Buck Gordon: Adventurer of Pluto' has reunited one last time to reminisce and finally say goodbye. Enter our PCs hoping to get a taste of the Hollywood High Life. However, what should have been a night of celebration and remembrance has descended into something stranger. Echoes of the past are bleeding into the present. Rubber or rather not so monsters prowl the corridors and even Buck Gordon himself has made an appearance. Strange considering his actor Wayne Powers passed away in 1955 from liver failure. Unable to leave the studio and with the presence that inhabits this place growing in strength by the minute, the crew will have to seek the aid of two figures who even Mortimus isn't exactly sure of a Mrs Sapphire and a certain Mr Steel.
Villain: The Thespian.
#4. 'Your Biggest Fan'
A routine trip through the Time Vortex takes a very strange turn when the PCs find themselves confronted by an extra-dimensional imp who proclaims himself to be their biggest fan. An Imp who calls itself Mr Samuel Miles. Originating from a universe where the normal laws of physics do not apply he possesses near limitless power and is able to warp reality with a mere click of fingers.
Determined to make his heroes proud and ensure they continue to have exciting adventures, the Imp uses his powers to generally mess with them and throw them into a series of “thrilling” encounters. An universe-spanning war between the Trods and the Cat People. A bumbling robot sidekick called Barnabus who strangely enough appears to have always been a part of the crew. An Earth Empire ruled by the tyrannical Beep the Meep who reigns with an iron fist. Reality itself is being pulled apart and put back together like clay and no can stop him. How will the PCs stop this seemingly omnipotent (yet enthusiastic) fanboy whose mischief knows no bounds?
Villain: Mr Samuel Miles. The enemies or rather problems he conjures up.
#5. 'The Malevolent Mr Mind'
A wealthy billionaire and amateur young archaeologist (Spraxus Vilo) in the 37th century investigating what appears to be an ancient tomb discovers the preserved remains of what appears to be one of its long-extinct indigenous species. A Venusian Worm. Knowledge of which has been lost to the eons. After bringing the specimen back to Earth, the archaeologist vanishes. Only to appear years later having become a powerful philanthropist and pioneer in the scientific world, especially in stem cell and cloning research. With the technology at his disposal, he promises to bring salvation to the people of the world. To bring the united and fractured nations of the world together as one big happy family. But who is the mysterious Mr. Mind who made all this possible?
Villain: Mr Mind
If anyone has any suggestions or wish to share ideas then do speak up. Adventure #3 will be my tribute to Sapphire and Steel so if anyone wishes to discuss what 'The Thespian' could be, feel free. Mr Mind is of course based on the classic Captain Marvel villain originating from Fawcett and DC Comics. The idea being that akin to the Tomb of the Cybermen what appears to have once been an ancient tomb was actually a prison. Centuries ago, MM was imprisoned by his people for wishing to spread their telepathic brood to all corners of the universe. Now, with his species long dead having been incinerated by the solar flares of the sun, MM is the prisons' sole occupant. Again, any criticisms or ideas are most appreciated.
