The PCs find themselves on the set of popular and educational children's' entertainer 'Mr. McDonald's Magical World'. However, they are soon horrified to discover that a new addition has been made to the series. A group of friendly, walking, talking puppets known as the Scorchies. Although, strangely enough these Scorchies are not like the rest of their brethren, their minds having been scrambled upon being transmitted through a faulty satellite they now have no desire to cause chaos and destroy the planet. All they want to do is entertain and perhaps under the guidance of the friendly and benevolent Mr. McDonald (who knows their true nature and has taken them in) educate the children of the world.
Things aren't so simple however, as another group of Scorchies have tracked down this rogue group and seek to either recondition them back to their old ways or destroy them for being a mockery of everything the Scorchies stand for. If they're not careful, the PCs will quickly find themselves in the middle of a Scorchie Civil War.
But, as the old saying goes. The Show Must Go On. Whatever the cost may be.
Note: The character of Mr. McDonald is based off of course Mr. Rogers and Jim Carrey's character Mr. Pickles off the new showtime series 'Kidding' This short adventure should act as a fun one shot that can stand alone or take place during a main campaign. If they play their cards right and with a bit of ingenuity, this rogue group of Scorchies may become allies in the event they ever find themselves once again in this time period. Or they might just snap back to their old ways. Mr. McDonald will of course insist that his friends are good and obviously capable of change which might result in him being caught in the cross fire.
As always feel free to leave suggestions on how to improve this idea and the like.
