The BBC have confirmed that an exclusive trailer for the new series of Doctor Who will be broadcast at some point during BBC1's coverage of the World Cup Final on Sunday (and presumably be available on YouTube shortly after).

NyderThanks for the heads-up! I am optimistically looking forward to it. I still have faith in Jodie as a terrific actress and I can only hope the writing is good. Then again, Chris did help make one of my Top 20 11th Doctor episodes, so I hope he and his writing team can still capture that magic while giving something new and unexpected! I will be sure to watch it when I can!

I'm just looking forward to the era of people overanalysing the logo font coming to an end. In all seriousness though I'm really looking forward to this trailer and to the series even more so

Not a trailer then, just a promo.

Still, not a bad one. I especially love the music tone and hope we get more of it in the future. I would've liked to have seen footage, but it's understandable with the way Chibnil and Co. have tried to be hush-hush about Series 11. Plus, SDCC is next week, so you never know if we'll have some more footage in the coming months. For what it's worth, I think it's pretty good. Also; anyone else catch some of the callbacks to previous seasons in the promo?

Yeah, a teaser rather than a trailer. But an interesting one nonetheless. Also; anyone else catch some of the callbacks to previous seasons in the promo? Hmmm, tell me more!

I'm still hopeful that Jodie will be like Gal Gadot's take on Wonder Woman in that it won't matter about the gender or what you believe in, so much as it is being a kind person in general only standing up to protect the innocent from those truly evil. As for the callbacks, well... When time resets itself around Graham, the newspaper suddenly changes to a copy of The Beano Magazine, similar to the one The Eleventh Doctor read in The Rings of Akhaten when he was witnessing the history of Clara's parents. Also, I read that somebody believed the pizza with Yasmin might be a callback to the pilot episode of Torchwood. I wouldn't know since I still have yet to listen to any episodes.

I'm not sure that they're deliberate callbacks. The Beano's a ubiquitous enough comic for it not to mean anything specific here other than as a juxtaposition to Graham's newspaper. The pizza company from Torchwood's first episode has been referenced in several TW and DW stories since, so it would make sense. But the pizza box in the teaser didn't look like it had the same design. Nice thoughts, but I'm sceptical.

The SDCC panel is today, so there might be something else to see soon.

I'm most excited by what I don't see — namely, the same old, same old, dipping into the pot to recycle things.

From the official BBC Doctor Who Twitter feed. The odd instances of colourful matter seem to be a running theme through the promotional media. I wonder if it's just a stylized theme or it's somehow plot-related.

I was a bit disappointed by the teaser but I LOVED the new trailer. We seem to be far away from the days of wobbly sets and villains made out of tin foil. It all looks so good.

I've seen this image going around. I know people are bound to joke about the new sonic, but in all seriousness, I wonder if it's going to function in a unique way like how the Eleventh Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver did. What I mean by that is I have a feeling 13 will be able to flick it open like an old cell phone back in the days when you used to have a cover that would close over the keypad. I also wonder if the hexagons in the background are going to appear inside her TARDIS. Anyways, onto my thoughts on the trailer... I really liked it. I understand why Chibnil said in an interview that we're going to get new monsters this season and I can imagine we'll see returning monsters during the following season. Honestly, as much as I liked Moffat's run (probably more than I should with a few episode exceptions,) I can say that I think we need a break from the regular monsters, especially the Cybermen and Daleks. We might even see Thirteen battle classic monsters when her ongoing comic series from Titan Comics launches in October or when she makes her debut in the Doctor Who Magazine Comics. I also really loved how she's relying on her friends as much as herself. That's something I think every Doctor should have; faith in their companions. So yeah, way to go, Chibnil. You have my full attention.

I try to avoid too many spoilers, so I've probably missed a lot of info. But I've heard that Series 11 will be ten one-part stories. Chris Chibnall has also said it'll be "all-new monsters". Anyone heard anything else not too spoilery?
