what are some pure historical's that you can come up with as a refresher, pure historicals are stories set in the past without any aliens The last game I played with my friend was a pure historical story set on the Titanic based on the Diary of Doctor Who RPG Magazine adventure; A Night to Remember. Here's a link to the issue which featured that scenario and a couple of other pure historical seeds and how to plan a pure historical adventure of your own: homepages.bw.edu/~jcurtis/Diary%20of%20DWRPG%20-%20Issue%20009.pdf . The adventure itself is on pg 26. In the adventure, my player's character (a Time Lady Archeologist named Kanya), had just welcomed her newest companion to the TARDIS; a young slightly-nerdy-yet-simultaneously-BA-middle-school girl from 2017 Earth named Camille "Cam" Mokal. On their first adventure together, Kanya used the randomizer on her TARDIS settings and ended up onboard the Titanic on April 14th, 1912 the day when late in the evening, the Titanic collides with the infamous iceberg. Being new to time travel, Cam wanted to save as many people as they could, but Kanya shot down her idea explaining The Titanic's sinking was a fixed point in time. The Laws of Time dictated that only 711 Passengers were meant to survive while 2,222 souls perished in the sinking. However, Kanya explained to her friend that some good did come out of this tragedy such as Margret Brown becoming an important activist for women's rights following the Titanic's sinking, the first major use of the SOS signal in a major transportation disaster, and the ultimate regulation for equal passenger safety following those lost at sea. However, Kanya and Cam soon found they themselves had to ensure these events happened while at the same time getting mercury for the TARDIS fluid links as Kanya's ship had run out upon arrival. In the end, they put history back on track, got the mercury, and after jumping over breaking boards and running away from the incoming water, the two escaped the Titanic sinking with their lives.

Well, I was told that the people on the Diary of DWRPG had done their research on this. Ah, well. I'll retcon this next game to be more historically accurate. Otherwise though I made sure to play up the actual danger of being on the Titanic during this time with things such as fighting against crowds and staff alike, jumping over breaking boards, and trying to prevent themselves from sliding too fast as the Titanic began to rise out of the water before ultimately completing their tasks and reaching the TARDIS to escape the sinking ship.

Only about 1/4 of the dead were actually recovered. They could have rescued at least a few of those who weren't. Hmm, that's stimulated by obsessive need for facts.
Accounts vary as to exactly how many bodies were recovered, 316 to 337. The latter doesn't add up so I think ~334 is more likely (wiki says 328 but multiple other sources contradict this; the dispute may be down to the bodies of young children, the fact that some assigned numbers weren't used and those picked by by the Carpathia). Certainly:
- 209 bodies were recovered and taken to Halifax
- 150 were buried in Halifax; of these 121 were interred at Fairview Lawn Cemetery, 19 at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery and 10 at the Baron de Hirsch Jewish Cemetery. 42 of the 150 were never identified; all of them were buried in numbered graves at Fairview Lawn.
- 59 bodies were claimed and taken away for burial.
- 125 bodies were buried at sea; 76 of these were also never identified.
I'm also intrigued by the CS Mackay-Bennett (wiki) the first ship that White Star leased to recover bodies; it picked up 306 corpses. 116 of these were buried at sea (mainly down to lack of embalming fluids, coffins and ice); of these 60 weren't identified. Also treatment depended on the status of the victims (unsurprising really); all those buried at sea were (or were believed to be) third-class passengers. There was one exception to this; a baby boy of about three whose bodied was saved by the crew and buried at their expense. He was identified by DNA analysis in 2007.
- But what else might the ship have been searching for that was lost with the Titanic?
- Is this connected in some way with the disappearance of most of the crew's logbooks and diaries of the recovery operations? Might these have hinted at a Sinister Secret?
- Then there are bodies 324 and 325. Officially these numbers were never used (the Mackay-Bennett recovered 001 to 326, the CS Minia 307 to 323, the CGS Montmagny
326 to 329, the SS Algerine 330, RMS Oceanic 331 to 333, SS Ottawa body 334, the SS Ilford body 335 and four by the RMS Carpathia [unnumbered]). Was the omission really just an error or was something being covered up?
So there is plenty of room for a few (or a few hundred) people to disappear elsewhen and a few to be added to the ship.
