So....
I have been re-familiarizing myself with the forums here, and their contents. I've been looking over in the "extra-canonical" thread and enjoying the things found there.
I have also been reading the latest Faction Paradox anthology The Book of the Enemy
The idea formed that maybe I should go back to the start of the Faction Paradox novels, reread them, and create the characters and items stated up for DWAITAS. This is a BIG project though.... The Book of the War alone would be dozens of characters and items.
(And, I'd have to slog through Against Nature again.... though, maybe it will make more sense this time around...
But, is there an interest in me doing this?

Absolutely! Itβs always a pleasure seeing the Expanded Universe incorporated into DWAITAS

As one of the contributors to the Expanded Universe series, I'd love to see your take on Faction Paradox. Our project is several years away from considering the Doctor-less spin-offs, and Faction Paradox is one of the areas that I'm less than familiar with anyway. I read some of the early novels (the Mad Norwegian Press ones) and have the BBV and Magic Bullet audios, but very little since then. So I'm way out of touch and think it requires somebody with a better understanding than me to tackle it.

I suppose I should mimic the extracanonical methodology. I will start a master-post in the Extracanonical section that lists all the relevant materials connected to Faction Paradox, and then break each down by their contents....
Seem like a good plan?

I might be able to pitch in on this. Though I too am wildly behind on my Faction Pardox readings.

Will it be written in universe or offer a realistic explanation for the 'uninformed' like me?

Will it be written in universe or offer a realistic explanation for the 'uninformed' like me? Not sure what you mean by "in universe"... Faction Paradox first started in the 8th Doctor novels... when it spun off, all the BBC owned copyrighted materials were renamed... but you could still pick out what most of the renamed items represented; for example.... Great Houses instead of Time Lords. Or Time Ships rather than TARDISs... on the other hand, other things that are distinctly "Doctor Who" got licensed seperately, so they appear in the Faction Paradox works unaltered... such as The Sontarans, or Sutekh. Part of the fun is finding the parallels. So you hear in "The City of the Saved" about a "militaristic hegemonic cyborg race" and it roughly means "cybermen". In the recent "Book of the Enemy" there is are blatant callouts to the Silurians and the Daleks... all while carefully avoiding their name. So... I'm thinking of presenting it simply with the conversion of names where appropriate, and possibly outlining where the stories diverge..unless there is another suggestion?

So, I've started my reread with "This Town Will Never Let Us Go" by Lawrence Miles. At the moment I'm looking at write-ups for Inangela Marero, Horror, Valentine Bregman, Coz, and Tiffany Korta. I'm rather looking forward to writing up Inangela, Horror, and Tiffany....

Just logged in after a few years - I'm actually thinking of making a PbtA (Powered by the Apocalypse) game for Faction Paradox - Moves, Playbooks and fiction first gaming seems to be a better fit than skills and attributes.
