Replaying F.E.A.R it inspired me to create this little scenario.
System Information
Star
Orange colour one sun.
PlanetsPlanets
7 1 gas supergiant, 2 ice planets, 2 rocky planets and Dormi (See planetary information)
Tech Level
6
Military Presence
Corporate security forces, colonial marines
Planet
Name
E699500-8 (Dormi)
Atmosphere
Dense, Tainted. The thick gassy atmosphere is filled with heavy metal contaminants requires a filtration mask to avoid poisoning. However skin based contact is safe.
Planetary composition
90% water, 1 land mass.
Population
570,000
History
Dormi was originally discovered in the late 21st century by the human race. Although there was little to attract colonists or trade opportunities the large land mass was found to be rich in numerous heavy metals that attracted a large number of mining concerns. Currently 89% of the population lives in the various housing faculties provided by their corporations with the remainder spread between the orbital facilities and surveying for particularly valuable finds.
Political Structure
As a frontier planet there is limited central oversight with the various areas divided up between 4 large mining corporations who sell mining rights to smaller concerns in exchange for a healthy percentage of the profits. Most issues are settled by a corporate court of the companies although there is a United Planets observation team to ensure the miners and other staff don't have their rights trampled on they have limited power.
Adventure Idea
SBinc is a multidisciplinary corporation that has officially licenced a small area of the planet for mining and development purposes. Unofficially they are conducting weapons research and have been producing clone soldiers (with computer link to allow their control. Think the ood). Recently a clone detachment glitched out, escaped from the cloning facility and took over a housing enclave and started killing the people in there. The players arrive in the enclave, have to survive, figure out what's going on and try to save as many people as possible.
The twist
The clones are working perfectly and are being used as a scape goat to hide an escape from the menagerie. An even more top secret facility that was experimenting with merging various alien DNA and technology with humans to create a new more powerful combat unit. One of which broke free, slaughtered the technicians and got into the Arcology where it began to feed on the people there. This research is illegal and the fact their test subjects weren't volunteers makes the situation even worse for SBinc. Their solution deploy a new clone detachment to enter the Arcology, kill all witnesses, locate and destroy the prototype combat unit or failing that overload the fusion generators and erase all evidence that way. As the fallout of a tragedy on a frontier planet caused by faulty clone troops will be less than being caught performing illegal experiments.
Major Threats
clone Soldiers
Can't be reasoned with, will attempt to imprison the players to prevent them finding things out, will kill them if that's not applicable or they feel the party knows the truth.
Combat Unit
Just wants to get close to people by eating them. Alternatively you could go with the old classics and have it be a cyberman or other race that can increase its numbers by conversion.
Potential Allies.
Armcorp Troops
Attempting to regain control of the facility in their area will be more corncerned with getting any survivors (such as the party) to safety than listening to them.
Arthur Hubble
A young United Planets Beurocrat who was in the Arcology doing a routine inspection when the clone troops seized it. Provides a potential contact with the United Planets observation team.
Millicent Taran
A 9 year old girl who is desperately trying to find an adult who'll listen to her stories of the nasty creature that killed/ate/took her parents. Fortunately she has yet to run into the clone troops.
