With the Twelfth Doctor regenerating at the end of this season, and my Player's Time Lady regenerating soon, I've been wondering about what some last lines of your PC's Time Lord/Time Lady have been before they regenerate? Did they reminisce about their current body? Did they have any regrets? Soothing words to companions (if any?) Feel free to post your Time Lord/Time Ladies' last words before regeneration here.

This is a great question. I had the Nth Doctor's last words planned long before his regeneration took place in "Destiny and the Doctor." In the Dark Dimension campaign, this was the end of that incarnation of the Doctor portrayed by Richard E Grant. Given the character's tragic timeline, dour outlook, and the real life history surrounding "Scream of the Shalka," I could not resist a bit of cheeky metatextual commentary at the end. After sacrificing himself to destroy the megalomaniacal machine known as the Supreme, the Doctor was devastated by a deathly radiation. As his body began to disintegrate, literally melting away, he offered his newest companion a sorrowful smile and some words of comfort by accepting his fate: "It's quite alright, John," he said. "You see, I've always known, I was never meant to be." I'm looking forward to seeing what others post here.

In the campaign my group just finished, I don't remember what our Doctor's last words were.... but I think it was something along the line of "Aaahgh! What are you doing? " as he was being repeatedly stabbed.

I haven't played in or run a game in which a Time Lord regenerated. I wouldn't want players to try to be dramatic, because players nearly always suck at being dramatic. It just comes off as pretentious and amateurish. Something like moondragon007's experience works just fine for me.

I have never personally watched Richard E Grant's Shalka Doctor (I did, however, watch him in the Curse of Fatal Death), but I know how the Whovian Community still treasures him despite not being in-cannon once Christopher Eccelston came along, and can see why people like his take in that animated short. Much like Paul McGann (at least not until 2013, if you want to count Night of the Doctor,) I think the Shalka Doctor had and still has a lot of potential for stories that don't need to necessarily infringe on the current continuity and can easily be told in its own universe. I'm aware Peter Cushing's Doctor had a few stories outside the Dr. Who and the Dalek films; one as a comic and one as an audio story. If you've also read the Ten Doctors fan comic, there's a line 10 has about his 8th Incarnation; "I like him. I wasn't him long enough..." Anyways, your story seems to hit one of the points of which I'm going to hit when I run the story where my friend's Time Lady, Kanya, regenerates. It's going to be a devastating loss for her companion, Murphy, but it also marks a rebirth and where that goes...we'll just have to see. I will say that how I plan for Kanya to exit does mirror how your take on the Shalka Doctor left...but imagine as if the machine had been a god-like entity in the style of DC's Anti-Monitor. That's the kind of scope and scale that I'm going for with Kanya's exit.

I still think the 'Shalka' Doctor is just a younger version of the 'War' Doctor. He's even doing missions to help the Time Lords.

Okay, so in case you missed the update, my friend and I completed the final episode (at least for now *wink* *wink*) to feature Kanya in her first incarnation. I briefly talked about this in the 'Your Campaign' section under the title 'The Adventures of Kanya,' but I'll recap for anyone who missed it. Kanya's first life came to an end when The Master returned post-TV Movie, having sent himself into Kanya's TARDIS from The Doctor's (having been trapped deep within and unable to take over The Doctor's TARDIS,) effectively turning the Master into a God with the power to shape reality to his liking. He took over Gallifrey, trapping The Eighth Doctor within The Matrix along with his companion Charley Pollard, had current President Romana thrown in jail, began to drain the main Eye of Harmony on Gallifrey, and ruled the planet with an iron fist for a year before Kanya managed to land her TARDIS there. She confronted the Master within the Matrix whilst her companion Murphy teamed up with Leela, K-9 Mark I, and the rest of the Gallifreyan Outsiders, and freed Romana before shutting down the main Eye of Harmony. The Master's Power was drained, The Doctor and Charley were freed, but the Matrix began to disintegrate as The Master's will drained. The Doctor, Kanya, and Charley left but as they were pulled out, one final explosion went off in Kanya's face. Already weakened from her fight with the Master, Kanya collapsed, her body unable to bear the strain that her battle had left her with. Kanya explained to Murphy she was going to go to sleep and wake up with a whole new face, new body, new thoughts, feelings, dreams, but she'd still be the same. As she coughed violently, she mused at how humans often focus so much on death they sometimes forget how to live life to its fullest. She had Murphy promise her no matter what, he'd find a way to be happy whatever her new form was like. Murphy nodded and watched as Kanya regenerated into her new appearance. So in case you hadn't heard, Kanya regenerated once more. This time, she went out rewriting a virus bomb that would've killed all human life-forms aboard a spaceship. Unfortunately, she could only reroute it so that it would kill all non-human lifeforms, including herself. But she went out saving Lee's life and told him the following: "I don't see death as an ending...only a beginning. And whether or not I'm a different species, gender, or whatever, I'll get to choose who I am next. And you'll get to choose as well. Goodbye, Lee."
If anyone else has some memorable last Time Lord lines, feel free to keep sharing here.
