Another question brought on by rewatching the series as its broadcast here. The Doctor can't land the TARDIS in the tower of london because its TARDIS proof but his is a very old model. The latest civilian version was predicted to be capable of breaching even the Gallifreyan barriers on past travel by using 2 of them and the star. So I'm wondering do you think its TARDIS proof or sexy (to use the name he gave his) proof. That is could a type 5X/6X/7X/8X/9X, form 10X actually breach those protections due to better technology?

The idea that twenty-first century humans could build a TARDIS-proof room, even with access to the alien technology in the Black Archive, offends my sensibilities. Then again, I also found the memory-wiping gimmick to be ridiculous too. And the idea that a disguised Zygon could be made to forget whether it was human or Zygon...

Really strong magnetic fields are enough to prevent TARDIS materialization so UNIT building a TARDIS-Proof area isn't all that unbelievable. Just need some super big elector-magnets.
From my TARDIS Tech Index: Shields rated at 7,300 megazones or a soft Icaron Field can prevent materialization, as can strong temporal, magnetic, or gravitic fields. Weather control systems, such as a Graviton, can pull a TARDIS off course causing it to materialize elsewhere.
If its ONLY magnetic fields then I'd guess a Type 70 could penetrate the defenses with a good roll. [doesn't the defended trait in the UNIT sourcebook give a +8 or some such?] If they are using more exotic super-science defenses then I'd say you need a Type 89 or later.
But really this is all just guess work. Feel free to have more advanced TARDISes breach the Black Archives if that's what would make the story more interesting.

Don't have the unit book. Its also possible that the Dr is just saving breaching the archive with his tardis for an emergency after all everyone knows the Dr lies.

We have only River's word for that. ;-) And that message from the guy in name of the doctor "the man who lies will lie no more."

We have only River's word for that. ;-) And that message from the guy in name of the doctor "the man who lies will lie no more." Wasn't that one of the Whispermen? So probably not the most reliable of sources. But Steven Moffatt also said it. And if anyone now posts that Steven Moffatt also lies... where does that leave his claim about the Doctor?

"You face the twin Guardians of Horus. One is programmed to deceive, the other points truly. The two switches control your fate. Instant freedom or instant death. Before you choose, you can ask one guardian one question. This is the riddle of the Osirans. Which is the guardian of life?"
