I've been working on this for a few days, mostly compiling descriptions of devices and deciding what new traits would be needed for a Star Wars book. Personally, I would separate the Sourcebooks into three/four. One for the Prequel Trilogy, Original Trilogy, Episode 7, Clone Wars 2003/Clone Wars 2008/Rebels shows Traits As far as traits go, the only traits I can think of that need to be added are Force Sensitivity (Major Good) and Jedi (Special Good - Requires Code of Conduct, Gives Enhanced Force Control and Lightsaber Skills. However can turn to the Dark Side - method not made yet). Equipment
Lightsaber, Blaster Pistol, Blaster Rifle, Bowcaster, Rocket Pack (Jango/Boba Fett), Breath Mask Character and Villain Writeups

Well I'm knowledgeable in just about everything Star Wars, I'd be willing to help.
You could also take cues from the existing Star Wars rpg, since it works very similar to this with a bit more complex class-based abilities.

Thanks catsmate and magister. I'm taking some of my cues from the Star Wars REUP project which is basically Star Wars D6 4th Edition.

I suppose the easier way to make character sheets for the existing characters is to create a conversion guide from Star Wars D6 or D20 builds and add new traits when necessary.

I tried to make a homebrew similar enough to this. It's pretty easy, you can replace some skills with things like Astrogation, Blasters and the like.
I can offer up some help in that the recent Jedi Handbook divided up Force Powers into specific abilities instead of a nebulous number of "Powers"

Have you guys checked out Rocket Age? A lot of material would work pretty easily and the rules for mooks and changes to story points really fit the films. The Callisto yetis are shoe ins for Wampas and you could easily use the Venusians for Wookies.
It also has the advantage of parring down the restrictions from Doctor Who and allowing a more combat orientated style of play than DW.

Why don't you get in touch with guys over at D6 holocron or the Rancor pit? Good D6 SW froums and they also make fan produced sourcebooks.
